There is an over supply of rogues on most servers as I'm sure you already know. For example when I'm organising a heroic instance the only time I'll take two rogues is when a geared prot pally is tanking and cc is of less importance. Other times, I'm going to take only one rogue leaving more spots for additional crowd control and/or utility classes (as in just about any other dps class).
Ask yourself this: do rogues bring any of these abilities?
- dps buffs, totems, blessings. mana/health returns
- off-healing
- ressurection
- wipe recovery (divine intervention, ankh, soulstones)
- decurse/cleanse/dispel
- resistance buffs/auras/totems
- heroism/bloodlust
- off-tanking abilities (possibly yes in the case of a rogue using evasion)
- food/water/healthstones
- trap/polymorph/banish/mind control/enslave
THAT'S why you bring other classes and not additional rogues my friends.
A DRUID CAN DO ALL OF THAT :D
Everyone should reroll druid and only do 5-man druid runs.
XD Balance, Feral dps, feral tank, Resto and extra, lol
But almost no CC T_T

Otherwise why have two rogues in your group? That means no fire mage, or enhancement shaman, or holy paladin.
I would take two saps and more dps over one sap and less dps anyday. A rogue and shaman with windfury is still less dps than two rogues. I don't know why you mentioned holy paladin as they aren't slotted for dps spots anyways. A mage (spec is irrelevant for 5mans) is powerful for sheep but not all instances demand it.

If you think rogues have it bad when it comes to slackers ruining your classes reputation and there being too many of your class, try playing a hunter.As an experienced rogue, I can say that playing a rogue in pve is mindless and incredibly simple. In my experience, I haven't come across these "roguetards" anymore than I have bad players of any class of any role (dps/heal/tank). For rogue pve, it's spam SS and keep SnD up... OMGAMIDOINITRITE??/

This is an argument I hate.If you have a group of full versatility,who's going to be doing all the dps?Sure locks and mages have good dps and some versatility but it's nothing compared to the raw burst damage of a Rogue.

What they ment when they said we already have a rogue is "Our group isen built for 2 rogues." I mean it takes the right classes to clear an instance.
You mainly want a good variety of classes so you have as much abilitys in the game avalibel for the fight. A second rogue means you might not have a hunters misdirect that would help a tank whos gear isent the best.
So thats what is means when you get rejected for a group.

I did SH (normal) last week with a Human warr (tank), 3(!!!!) rouges and me (resto druid)....
Let me just tell you that it was the fastest instance clear I`ve ever done! We cleared it in less than 30 mins! with no problems what so ever! The DPS was crazy good!
So for you "we allready have a rogue" sayers... Try having 3 rogues in your group! It´s so much fun!
And then to all you "rogues cause alot of drama". Remember its not the class, its the player behind the toon you should target with your critisism.
If your partners dont listen then just leave the group! And now with the playernotes coming up in the new patch they will never find a group to do anything more!

Because, i blasted a chest awhile back in SL and the rogue that didnt have the lockpicking skill to open it tripped %^&* over some terocone,so from now on i open the boxes and if the group wants to roll on the contents i allow them too.
Well, then you met an asshat rogue who made a big deal over like 2 gold. If I didn't have the level to pick a chest, and someone in the group wanted to blast it open, I wouldn't care if they took the scroll or some terocone. As long as everyone gets to roll on the BoE items.. the rest goes to the person with the skill to open the box.

Maybe this is how we get such a bad name.
We have more than just two spaces on our action bar for a reason.
Depending on the group you are in you should be able to adapt, and prove that rogues have at least some versatility to go along with their impressive dps.
for example.
You got a bad tank and/or a panicky healer in your group and a "vanish, cheap shot, 4-5 point kidney shot, blind" can keep your healer from getting even a scratch where otherwise that scared clothie priesty might have dropped in a moment. You should even be able to pull its aggro and pop evasion and you give him another 15 seconds of breathing room".. you just saved a wipe... see, even non versatile dps classes can do it if they pay some attention.
Of course, the alternative is to play mindlessly, the group wipes... you complain that the tank can't hold aggro, and the healer has no survivability, and leave the grp...... Very productive.
Other options beyond SnD:
Using blade flury as often as possible without pulling any aggro,
Or keeping 4-5pt expose armor up on a target when your grp doesnt have a warrior tanking,
Or keeping 4-5pt DP and rupture on the mob at all times...
I can think of a whole bunch more reasons why if you play your class mindlessly then your not playing it well, but i'll stop there, i think you get the point...
Pay attention or go find a mindless first person shooter or something.
When I said pve, I meant raid bosses. Heroics are even more mindless unless you have a raid gear. If you have raid gear, you don't even have to try except to pick up the slack for your undergeared party members.
Like I was saying, playing a rogue in pve is retarded simple. Actually, pve in general is pretty simple. I heal also and it is also retarded simple. The only problem with healing is anticipating spike dmg on fights you aren't familiar with.
And I say that as a priest with diverse heals to choose from, not a healatard spamming Flash of Light endlessly. (And I've seen it too. Sometimes when I die I'll click a paladin and watch what they do. Folks, they literally spam Flash of Light till the end.]

Yeah, but when a group running Steamvaults says they don't want two saps and would rather have a sheep. That's ignorance. The instance doesn't call for it. Shattered Halls and Ramparts, yes. Steamvaults, no.

Me being a Feral tank i like having melee dps.. i've done a HC with 1warrior, 1 enchance, 1 rogue + healer and the only CC we used was warstomp (3 taurens).. imo a stable CC is not needed if your tank is well geared.. just nuke fast ^^

As a prot palidan i organise all my PUG groups myself. Since hitting lvl 70 i have decided not to take rouges if i can help it.
1) mage for food and AI and a decent CC, most mages know how to CC properly.
2) shadow preist for mana regen and fort buff (mana = more threat over time when i over gear it ...) and
mind control has its uses
.
3) mellee dps shaman, can off heal, wipe recovery.
4)hunter, i play a hunter also so im picky about how they do things, but there CC is good, but i often get "i couldnt get agro off you to CC", i lol at that.
5) Warlock, CC where the mage cant, stam buff.
6) boomkin druid, +5% crit for my mage and locks and spreists, can off heal.
??) rouge, melle dps, always dies, can never attack the skull first. I havent grouped with a rouge in about 4 months that can open that locked chest.
I lol'd. As a dps class, you're the kind of tank I avoid.

I'm thinking that rogues can be very useful because they can CC before even getting into combat, the only problem I've ever had is when they get spotted and a wipe happens.
This is why we have vanish, lol.
