I wouldn't take it. The whole thought is very agonizing to me. Imagine what it's like to just float somewhere in the space after all matter has disappeared :S Thinking of eternity makes me feel odd.
Death seems like a relief to me, so I accept it when it comes.

I don't think insanity would take over as many have said, you forget things on an average 60-80 year life span, think you could manage a thousand years of them? I doubt it, unless this immortality brings external abilities. As for losing loved ones, better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all. I've always wanted to move, to meet new people and begin new relationships, what better chance than to know thousands throughout their lives. Also establishing my last name for generations to come, and more, which is important to me. Yet, one thing I'd also want this immortality for is to just watch the world. It's technology, it's people, it's culture, it's religions. Just everything.
I'd take immortality, and you would bet your ass I'd enjoy it, until some jealous prick shoots me. Which adds even more enjoyment to the immortality, the chance of that driver not paying attention, or that angry madman, or simply being in wrong place at the wrong time. That small feeling of mortality helps you keep your grip on sanity, cause I couldn't kill myself anyways.
Also, wall of text = thought about this a lot.

mortality is what ties all life together...gaining immortality means losing your humanity...
so good health and older age? yes... living FOREVER? no.
also... i don't want to experience "everything life has to offer" just everything it has to offer that i CAN... some things i don't want to have to experience...
and when you can have everything they kind of lose the special quality,,,

I'll say it again. Existance is better than non-existance. If there was any way to truly live forever I would. But considering even the universe is destined to end hundred of billions of years in the future, it seems that death truly is inescapable.

Tell me, how is the universe going to end, Skreeran?

How do we know the actual universe is ever expanding? We haven't even found an end yet. Our
perception
of the universe is ever expanding, and that's the only fact atm, the rest are just ideas.
damnit, your edit made my comment obsolete -.-'

I'd say no if it was only for me and not me + loved one. It's one thing to grow old together, because you know that also means ultimately dying together. It might seem nice at first to spend lifetime after lifetime with different people that you are truly in love with, but it also means watching them die -- whether suddenly or slowly -- one after the other.

Tell me, how is the universe going to end, Skreeran?
In a flaming ball of fire.
In the bible, and in the implosion of the universe.
People enjoy the idea of being burnt to death it seems.

i think the knowledge of our impending death really helps define us... life is fleeting.. so we have to appreciate things on a whole different lvl than if life were infinite... your values and views and things that drove you would probably change if you knew no death.
*death is the one thing that ties EVERYONE... no matter what...

If I recall correctly,
this
is the most agreed upon theory, based on the knowledge that the galaxies are getting farther apart.

Death by random events are just as likely whilst living forever, Ignis. You choose to rob a bank, your result will be no different then that of a mortal. Your values stay the same when you live that long, it seems to me. Your life just won't end by natural causes.

I would love to have immortality. No doubt about it, I'd take it for almost any price.

if we are talking of immortality as in cant die perioud is what i was referring to...
Immortality of ONLY old age (can still get sick or be killed) is different

Then you shouldn't have posted in this thread or shared your opinion, you clearly didn't read the OP.

i DID read the op, i also saw several posts talking about which type of immortality... i happened to comment on that one...
excuyyyyyyyyse me mr no tanget police.
and on the other i think it would still warp you some... and you would lose some of your humanity... impending death even just from old age is something that ties us all together.
