Should Cocaine Be Legal?

Thanks Zaputo. This brings us to phase two of my idea about cocaine legalization.
At the cocaine distributed facilities, distributers would be required to jump through a few hurdles with each client before each sale.
1) Payment recieved
2) Fingerprint identification
3) Pregnancy test
4) Citizenship verification
5) Arrest warrent check
6) Drugs administered ON SITE, and not removed from facility in any circumstance.
Only then could the person get thier fix, relatively cheaply.
The other half to this is an increase in minmum and maximum sentences.
Minimum sentences:
Rape constitutes life in exile or prison without the possibility of parole/clemancy/anything, and a "R" tattooed on the violater's forehead.
Murder constitutes the death penalty administered publically, by hanging.
Child exploitation constitutes a physical beating administered publically, 30 years in prison, and a "P" tattooed on the violater's forehead
Illegal drug trafficing constitutes permanant exile or 30 years in prison.

Mediator...
I wasn't referring to that when I wrote the first thing you quoted me. I pointed out that while
technically
it could be considered that, the U.S. doesn't consider caffeine, alcohol, or tobacco. Even though they are all
technically
considered drugs. Besides the quote does say "broad." I was using it in the context of the drugs that are considered narcotics.
Why did you say it though? Just because the US doesn't consider them drugs doesn't mean they aren't.
Anyways, to MyTie, you're going really really far. Also, the death penalty is pretty much considered an obsolete form of punishment because there's no going back with it, and its been shown that in plenty of cases people have been wrongly convicted and executed.

I'm just curious why you, MyTie, having clearly said that you are against drugs and people that use them, are on the side of legalizing them (or just coke or whatever). What kind of example are you showing your children if you say to your kids "Just say no and don't associate with people that use," when you are also saying "Cocaine should become legal."
?
Just because something is bad doesn't mean it should be illegal. The illegality of cocaine is destroying a part of our economy and createing an underground society. While I do not approve of cocaine use, and I don't think many people do, the logical conclusion to legalizing it is to improve society. Odd sounding, but true.
@TheMediator - you love going off topic, don't you. Death penalty usefullness debate is only part of what we are discussing here, so let's try to keep it to a minimum. Can we safely say that most of the ones executed were done so rightfully? Can we also safely assume that if executions were made public, people would be deterred from doing the crime they commited?
I'd like to add one more modification to the list of minimum punishments, and make a modification to another:
Monetary political corruption is punishable by siezure of all assets, shaving, and exile.
And I want to adjust the tattoo on the child molesters to a "C" instead of a "P". People with a "P" would get it changed to an "R" because it would be slightly less terrible.

Making cocaine legal would more than likely not increase its consumption, Flipppppyyy. It would only make it taxable, and regulatable.
Making something legal is not the same as approving of it.

I hope with all my heart you never become President. These punishments are ridiculous.
I can't even believe you woud suggest these. I'm not suggesting that rape is not one as well, but these are a clear violation of human rights, and to top it off they'd be enacted by the government.
This is the single dumbest thing I have ever heard you say.
Being president just means that he can allow those actions to be passed, if the Supreme Court finds them Constitutional and the House/Senate pass them. I'd say the real power is in the majority whip.

Hmmmm... I hope I'm never elected president as well. These punishments are only ridiculous because you have never been, nor had someone you loved, raped/murdered... etc... If you had, you would see the justification in stricter punishments.
What are human rights? What does that mean? If someone murders someone in cold blood after rapeing them.... and THEN demands thier human rights be respected, I have to say that is the ridiculous arguement. Mine makes perfect sense.
And... the last comment is just a flame.
So... did you have any reasonable and logical thoughts on the debate or did you just drop by to say I'm 'wrong' and 'dumb'?

Way too harsh. There's a reason why water boarding is going away, we can't call ourselves moral people when we take an eye for an eye.
