I sincerely apologize for the title of this week's debate; I am in that kind of a mood.
So, the topic for this week is as follows:
Should the United States drop its sanctions on Cuba?
I'm sure some of you have an opinion on the subject. Share it with us and the reasons behind that opinion. THEN DEBATE!

Meh, I don't know much about the relationship between the US and Cuba, so I can't comment.

What we need to do is stop trading with China.
First off, we're funding Communism.
Second, giving almost all of our trade to one place is stupid.
Third, China doesn't care about making a safe, reliable, and sturdy product. They make things that are like their prices; cheap.
Fourth, all of the American manufactures are losing business to China. This = bad.
Bad, bad, bad!

I think that with the Cuba embargo, the U.S. is doing much more harm than good. If they really are keeping this up in the hopes that Cuba goes democratic spontaneously, that's kinda ridiculous (Cuban Democratic Act).
How often does ignoring someone get them to change their ways? Not very.
Communication and relationships (good or bad) are the way to go.
Edit: About the possibility of an embargo on China... that's a can of worms. Can we debate that next week? There's alot to talk about there.

Something I'm hating in here is: just because a country is communist doesn't mean they're "evil". In fact, communism has it's ups and down
exactly
like capitalism. The US didn't stop trading with Cuba because communists are bad, they did it because they wanted the world to be capitalist, so they could rule it. And the plan worked! Second, the US would never agree to a trade embargo on China. I'm not sure if you are aware but China is currently the most feared country in the world. It grows 8% a year, that's more than all the Americas together. It has the largest army, and access to many natural resources. If you ask anyone who knows about the subject they'll agree with me that in the coming years, China will take the USA's place.

Yes, I'm aware of Rual, Fidel's brother but I hope he's only temporary.
Yeah, we can hope.. but that's not usually how a dictatorship works. lol.
Edit: actually, it does sometimes work that way, but not because the dictator gave it up. Usually for other, more violent, reasons.
