You can't criticize if you sat on your thumbs and didn't vote at all.
Hitler was elected and I didn't vote in the election which put him into power. I guess I can't be critical of him, then?

Let me re-phrase my statement. You can criticize all you want, but if you voted for the person that is in office doing the things that you don't like, then your criticisms are worthless because you are the one that helped put that person there. And yes, you can criticize if you didn't vote, but your criticisms are also worthless because you did absolutely nothing to put anyone in office.
I'm sure there is at least one Jewish person who did not vote in the election that put Hitler to power. And while it's very likely they died, according to you they didn't have the right to speak up in the first place, because they didn't vote.
Seriously, I can't see your logic here.
I don't have to be a cook to know that eating human feaces is not good for me.
I don't have to be a programmer to know when my computer freezes.
I don't have to be a politician, or even politically active to know when someone is MASSIVELY CORRUPT.

Cows... Hummers...
now the Internet?
Is nothing sacred. Everything I do is destroying the earth. The only solution is to vote in a politician who will police my every activity. THANKS CNN! For finding this terrible terrible act before we blow up the entire planet!
Edit: Seriously, I can't wait for the hysteria to end. It's really annoying me.

MyTie, you seem to have a worrying ability to take any information you hear/read that you happen to agree with, and be unable to see any problems with it without being given proof, and then require others to be different whenever they disagree with you.
My opinion is that the government is spending too much money. Show me an article that explains they are spending too little.

The internet article reminds me of the one where they wanted to tax any 'green house gas' emission. People then proceeded to point out that this would also be taxing human breathing.
Politicians still thought it was a good idea.

your criticism is worthless because you ultimately helped vote him into office, and therefore you gave your support to him and all his future plans/ideas/bills/etc
No I didn't. If I voted for him, it's because I thought he would do a better job than the other guy. In this scenario, I chose poorly. But that doesn't remove anything from my criticisms of him.
My criticisms would hold more weight because I didn't vote for him and therefore didn't agree with any of his plans/ideas/bills/etc.
"My criticisms would hold more weight because."
That is literally what you are saying here. Oh wow, you didn't agree with him during the voting? Well guess what, Zaputo, it isn't voting time any more.
If a guy who you voted into the White House suddenly pulled a Nazi salute, pulled a sub-automatic out and began firing into the crowd, you wouldn't support them any more. But according to you, your criticsims would have no vadility because you got them there.
My point is, Zaputo, partioning blame to (non/)voters and removing some kind of validity from their criticisms is pointless and stupid.

Why are you so stuck on Hitler and the Nazi's?
Because I love Godwin's Law.
So you think that it's ok for people that didn't vote to be able to complain and criticize even though they took no part in the voting process?
Uh, yes. If someone is doing a bad job, they should be criticized.
You vote someone into that position because you think they can do the best job or have good plans for the future. If they don't deliver on those plans or do a bad job, it's partly your fault because you helped them get into office.
A few of my friends have been chosen to go on a gameshow where the winner gets to donate some money to the charity of his choice, but only one can go. We have a vote to see who should go. Our friend loses. By your logic, it's our fault that the charity doesn't get the money?
Helped to get into office? Yes I did. Did I personally give permission for them to do (or in some cases, not do) certain things? No.
Edit: Blarg, discussions over multiple forums FTL. This is the 4th time this week I've got my arguements confused.

On this topic, Zaputo, what did you think of our reasons for going into Iraq? This isn't an attempt to derail the discussion, I just want to see if you really apply this mode of thought to politics.
Iraq was uncalled for, simply put.
