Why no Taunt in pvp?

I'm not a protection warrior, but i think that would make them alot more viable for pvp. I know this has been discussed before, but it seems like a no-brainer to me. What do ya'll think? Challenging shout may be a bit overpowered, but it has a 10 minute cd (i think), so maybe it wouldn't be.

Wait, what? Taunt a player to force them to attack you, or what? Well, sorry, but that's just stupid. Kinda makes Warriors a bit OP in my view...

Obviously you can't make someone attack something, but similar to a hunters feign death, which untargets the hunter, it would untarget whoever the other player had targeted and make the warrior the target while turning to face them. Making the warrior the target of the next auto-swing or spell if its being cast at the time of the taunt. It's like a combination of feign death and a rogues distract. Dosen't sound op to me...
ps. plus taunt requires you to be in defensive stance...

Of course it would sound silly to anyone who has never played a warrior (WHAT? You mean I have to retarget who I was killing???? How would I retarget that fast???).
Seriously, wouldn't be that hard if you had some skill.
I personally think it's a brilliant idea, and I wondered the same thing when I realized taunt didn't work in pvp. At worst, it would give an ally a little bit more time to live or get away, but if the killer has any skill at all, they would make quick work of switching back to their original target.

Personally I like the taunt mechanism in WAR, whenever taunt is used it decreases the damage the taunted target does by 50% against everyone but the warrior, and increases damage by 10% on the warrior. You don't *have* to attack the target, but it's kind of dumb not to.

You mean like the only player he can damage is the taunter?

There's two aspects of taunt, first it retargets to the warrior, second it makes that mob attack the warrior for a certain amount of time. I can see where forcing you to attack a warrior might be op. What would not (imo) make it op would be a retarget/face the warrior who taunts you. It would not interrupt your casting or auto-swing, just retarget you so that the warrior is the target. Simply retarget the other player again and whack away.
Warriors dont have that many skills that take control away from the player, less so than many other classes. Warriors have an aoe fear on a 10 minute? cooldown, and a stun available through talents. Locks have 3 types of fear? Hunters have traps and that shot, forgot the name.
Anyway, its like flogging a dead horse, I just think it'd be a neat idea that all spells have a use in both pve and pvp. I'm sure there are other spells of other classes out there like this but I'm most familiar with warriors.

Couldn't be *that* familiar if your knowledge of the cooldown was off by more than a factor of three.
I know, I'm ashamed of myself. I'll be studying the cooldowns on all my abilities this week. Would hate to mess up again...
Sorry, fail. Distract does nothing but make your character turn, and it cant be used against targets in combat. Feign death makes spell casting stop and lose target.
I said "it's like a combination" not "it is a combination" it would be similar, not the same mechanics. Anyway, if the devs won't force behavior, what about fear, blind, distract, scatter shot, mind control etc etc etc. It seems the same to me, taking control away from the player. BTW, rogues aren't broken, but i guess thats for another thread.
