Other third-party programs use Wowhead data (Gatherer, Buyout, etc.)
Gatherer seems to work well enough (most of the time anyway, seems to vary from server to server strangely).
But Buyout has problems. This is what I reported to the author:
"This needed GoingPrice installed to work; didn't know that until I installed. No matter: the projected sale price is wildly inaccurate, usually 2 to 4 times the actual low sale price on the auction house. This makes the tool effectively useless (almost as bad as the Enchantrix estimated disenchant material values). I don't know where you're getting your AH prices from, but you need to rethink that process."
And this is what he responded:
"The data comes from
http://wow.allakhazam.com and
http://wowhead.comMy addon is a convenience for those who would otherwise have to switch to a web browser in the middle of gameplay to look up pricing data from the above sites. IF anyone finds data from the above sites useful, GoingPrice offers it in a convenient tooltip. Obviously, you do not.
How about finding a website with more accurate data and then informing me about it. I might create a new GoingPrice_<website> addon for this new data. "
Soooo ... the problem is with the Wowhead auction house sale price data. I faithfully report my data to Wowhead via the Wowhead-Client, and I presume others do too. So why is your auction house sale price data so inaccurate or untimely? Don't you update it regularly?
