Why not simply use the ring... ? It has untold powers, there is little limit to what it can do. Obama is foolish not to take advantage of this gift. Who knows, maybe even the poor could be made wealthy...
There, the world economy is restored and now even the homeless are billionaires, effectively ending poverty. You're welcome :)
Like it's possible maybe Sauron would try to take it back because he didn't necessarily die at the end of LotR, but still, it seems like a good idea.

Not sure if it's been discussed, as I haven't crawled through the nine pages of the thread so far, but in the words of Syndrome from
The Incredibles
:
"When everyone is super... no one will be."
That works here, too. And it's prolly one of the reasons that when they had the $700b bailout plan, they didn't just go and say, "Hey you know, there's roughly three hundred million people in the country, why not save a few hundred billion, and just give everyone in the country a million dollars?"
Inflation would suck ace. Big time.

@EluraE: If Laihendi named it after you it would get locked within a couple hours like the other name threads D:
@Fathios: Laihendi has done much reading on the matter (being an avid Tolkien fan), and what you said might not be true. Someone with powerful enough force of will could use the ring to overthrow Sauron. However, the ring would corrupt the new master, so that the new bearer would become evil like Sauron.
Examples:
In the book, a major theme was Sauron's fear that Aragorn would take the ring and build of the strength of Gondor until he could assault and destroy Mordor. The only the reason why Aragorn didn't do this was because he knew he would ultimately be turned to evil.
When Frodo offered the Ring to Galadriel, she nearly took it, because she had desired it as a means of increasing her own power for many centuries, and planned to use it to overthrow Sauron and become Queen of Middle-Earth. She ultimately resisted the temptation however, because she knew it would corrupt her until she became evil.
Saruman also went to great lengths to get the ring for himself so he could become the new Dark Lord, and came somewhat close to being successful, however it passed beyond his reach when Frodo and Sam escaped into Emyn Muil.
Eh, Laihendi kind of went off topic there.
