Thanks for the kind words majorcl :)
I hope you enjoy your paladin!
.
I've added potions to the consumables section now.
I wont be listing buff food since there's a new buff food every 5 levels and the amount of different foods are just ridicoulus.
The potions were added in a hurry since i've delayed it for a couple of weeks now and when i finally thought and said i'd get around to it i was quickly interrupted so if you think there's something better than what i listed feel free to say so.

Hey svirve, question:
Does Glyph of Seal of Light really affect SoL and JoL procs? I've been trying to read up on it, but not found any real evidence of it.
Love this thread btw, its the soul reason that my paladin has managed to get to ~20->60 as prot.

I'm not able to test at this moment (running dual virus scans and adaware) to give you a 100% certain answer, but i've heard from sources reliant enough that i've added it in the guide, that it does increase healing from JoL/SoL. And actually i dont see why it wouldn't.
While Seal of Light is active, the effect of your healing spells is increased by 5%.
SoL and JoL are healing spells in a sense.
I'll test to give you a more definitive answer as soon as i'm done cleaning out my comp.

Without GSoL:
SoL JoL
Min 338 Min 225
Avg 338 Avg 225
Max 339 Max 226
With GSoL:
SoL JoL
Min 357 Min 238
Avg 357 Avg 238
Max 358 Max 239
I had less SP on the GSoL test so this clearly shows it does increase SoL/JoL Damage

sorry to be a bit nooby never used a AOE grinding guide before do you not do any quests then or do you just keep grinding the mobs until ding, and could somebody say how long it takes to actually level using this guide thanks

You can combine AoE grinding with questing. Like i said in the beginning this is mostly a tool to help you level not really a complete leveling guide.
I cant give you any hard numbers on each level but what i can give you is this:
33-34 ~30min
34-35 ~45min
70-75 avg 2.5-3hours
These are the numbers i can remember when leveling my paladin as i was writing this guide.
Not many of the grinds were "super-effective" but i'd say it's what you can expect if you're grinding casually.

As far as leveling a paladin, which would be more efficient for an experianced WoW player, a Retribution leveling build or an AoE grinding build? I'm just looking for the way to go for leveling faster.
Btw, this guide is great. Very nice job!
There are way too many variables to say for certain.
The biggest and most important variable is you.
Prot is very very very monotounus. You'll be spending hours after hours of killing the same mobs over and over again.
Ret is more appealing to the average player because you'll be questing your way through constantly moving around.
Whichever is more appealing to you will always be the fastest way.

Svirve,
I just wanted to thank you for the guide... Allthough I don't really level out of grinding, I do like to AOE the hell out of mobs...
I was playing "my way" of AOE paladin (choosing my build accordingly to my way of playing) and I did have my build called "alternative" or even "noob lol wtf is that?", so it's nice to know some ppl do play the same way...
We that actualy try it before judging it are the ones that really wanna stick to it :) Good job!

I've got three questions for you that I'd like to know for my Pali, who is now lv 39. First, is there anywhere OTHER then the Raptors in Stranglethrone Vale that would be a good idea to grind XP? They're a little to far apart for my tastes and I can only get 3 if I'm lucky.
Second, once I ding 40, I'll be able to wear plate. Just how much of an impact will this have on my tanking in general and my grinding out XP?
And third, I've seen Paladins go and pull entire instances and bring them back to the entrance, then proceed to go and kill them all with ease. I had thought that by having Ret Aura on, I could do something simular and get enemies to chase me untill I had a huge pack, but as soon as I got far enough from their original spawn point, they reset. Just how do you go about pulling mobs like that?

Lost point in Dustwallow Marsh. ~1 500 HP, level 34-37
Map
The deserters here interrupt your casts so bring pots.
You can go here as early as 34 but i dont recommend that since the mobs do interrupt you.
Murlocs in Dustwallow Marsh. ~1 500 HP, level 35-37
Map
They run and pull themselves repeatedly, if done properly you can go 30 minutes without leaving combat.
Both of these work great at 39. The levels i list in the guide are "up to and including" so if it sais 36-39 you can grind here at 39 as well.
I'm not 100% sure but i think the castle thingy in arathi highlands is worth checking out. There are 3 "areas" there. One with the ogres, a bunch of healers here but otherwise nothing to worry about. One with syndicate mobs here there are casters but a ton of buildings and ruins to LoS them in. And the last contains alliance friendly mobs cant remember if there are any casters there though.
Second, once I ding 40, I'll be able to wear plate. Just how much of an impact will this have on my tanking in general and my grinding out XP?
Plate really helps alot since it roughly doubles your armor contribution from items.
And third, I've seen Paladins go and pull entire instances and bring them back to the entrance, then proceed to go and kill them all with ease. I'm assuming you're trying to adapt this tactic in the outside world and not in an instance. The problem is that in instances mobs are designed to never stop attacking you unless you make them evade or go out of combat for some reason (Divine intervention perhaps). Thus you can if you have enough HP and avoidance/mitigation pull an entire instance before you get killed and then kill them all.
The problem in the outside world is that mobs will only follow you for a certain distance depending on how often you damage them. If you continously throw down consecrates while walking backwards you can make the mobs follow you until they die. This is actually one of the more effective ways of grinding. It's kinda hard to loot while doing this but stopping ocassionally to loot doesnt really hurt your efficiency that much if you keep HS/cons up while you're looting.

OOOOOHHHHHHHHH! So it's just like with my Hunter then. If I'm wanting to have an enemy follow me, I'm going to have to keep smacking it for at least some damage. Just having Ret aura on doesn't work, since they're smacking themselves. And I'll try going back to the Murlocks and do that. I'm just tired of seeing my Paladin stuck at lv 39.

Indeed damage from "Damage Shields" (such as ret aura) doesnt make the enemys follow you longer.
Some mobs also has a leash. There's not many but if they do it's quite easy to notice since they'll follow you X number of yards and no matter what you do to them they'll turn around and run away.
Though generally a mob will keep on following you as long as you hurt it every X yards (about 12-15 seconds of walking backwards(i know this because walking backwards and keeping cons. up will have them following you to hell and back but if you miss a cons. with a handful of seconds they'll run away)).
If you dont like the murlocs or find them too easy try the ruined castle in arathi i mentioned i'm pretty sure they should be appropriate level for you there.
It'll get alot better once you ding 40 and get HS :) That's pretty much when the fun starts. The way to 58 and outland should be easy from there and then it gets even more fun.

Hey!
Suggestion:
Will you add a "must have"-equipementlist for Northrend levels? Please do, the questrewards are abundant, and i guess its easy to overlook some peice. (And perhaps miss important questlines when you steamroll through the zones, protection style!)
Question:
How long do i use Petrified Lichens shield? When does its low block value and armour outweigh the damage from the poison? Hm..
Im looking at
Cobalt Triangle Shield
. (Actually im thinking about making an entire Cobalt set once i hit 70) What do you think.. Cobalt or lichens?

Comparison
of the two shields.
I'd say you can switch the shield once you hit northrend, that's what i did.
The proc from the shield does 12 nature damage every 3 seconds and stacks up to 5 times, so 20 DPS.
The first mobs in northrend have about ~9000 HP so the proc from the shield is very minute damage and the increased damage mitigation you get from a WotLK shield is much better.
Short story: Once you get to northrend switch shields ASAP.
I will not make any specific gear lists. The one i have now is simply a look-at-this-cool-piece-list and they're only there because they have effects that greatly increase your effectiveness when grinding.
There are however gear up guides spread across the tanking forums (
one
here on wowhead) which work perfectly fine since you want essentially the same gear as a tank.
Also adding quest info and such would be very very off topic since the guide is pretty much about doing everything but quests.

Thanks for the answer.
And i like the look-at-this-cool-piece-list. Keep adding to it, its all im sayin'. :)
