Anything lore-wise to cataclysm is fertalizer. As for the flood thing, it's possible, but I doubt the Barrens and Thousand Needles will get it like they say; the Barrens suddenly becoming a lush tropical forest like it was before the Sundering, and Thousand Needles becoming a river again, if that happens, Feralas and Tanaris will be destroyed as well.
But I love Ferelas' looks. :'(
PLEASE RETCON 1K NEEDLES TO A LAKE!
That is, if the speculations are true.

A lot of it is... hard to believe, to say the least. I'm only looking at the Deathwing & Naga connection (which sounds somewhat plausible)... and the semi-flood thing. So...:

We have to remember, we have no idea of the cause of this "flood". If it's a giant wave coming from the Maelstrom, wasting east and west, Tanaris won't be so heavy struck as Barrens - but then as I said, we really know now much about it. Thousand Needles rather makes sense, as it's ... well, practically a big rock-bathtub. Wetlands is already very ... well, wet - and very close to the sealine, unlike most of Eastern Kingdoms.

Yeah but unless somehow some way, the path into Feralas is block, same with the path into Tanaris, the water would just wash right back out again, not to mention, that much water would also destroy Dustwallow and Theramore.
As for the Deathwing Naga thing......... again, I don't think it would likely for him to team up, because I'm sure he knows, just like all the other dragon flights, what the naga really are, and again; He doesn't forgive insults at all, so they would still be in his s**tbook. The whole "Naga attack Krasus" in Night of the Dragon never made any sense to me.

True that. It's some strange things. There might just be a bit of water there, after all. But looking at the globe, it seems like Barrens and Wetlands are the places mostly hit. How bad it is... and so on, we can only presume by looking at said globe. I guess a lot of water splashed down there from the Barrens, and ... well, it might've soaked itself away again.

Deathwing allying with the Naga - for whatever reasons that might imply - can explain it somehow, but we'll indeed never know. Whatever caused the Highborne to steal the Dragon Soul, might've changed when they got turned to Naga. Deathwing unknowing is indeed rather strange - but, as they're both "creations" of the Old Gods, they might come along... good enough for it to work. Or Deathwing simply spared them in change for some help: namely the attack from Krasus. We'll probably know more about that in time.

I really need to re-read war of the ancients heh; what i can remember either one of the Legion on Azeroth (Mannoroth or Archimonde), the leader of the Satyrs(can never remember his right name) or Illidan clued them in on the power of the Demon Soul. Once they realized they could use it to augment the summoning of Sargeras (or you know, force the portal open wider so the Old Gods could escape), they sent a squad of soldiers to capture the Soul from the Krasus's, Brox and Malfurion who had taken it from Deathwing.
The Highborne got the artifact and placed it up in the Well, at that point everything was going fine till Deathwing came swooping in and tried to rip it free, which cause the Highborne, the Legion and the Old Gods to blast him with power bolts and he still didn't let it go till he was struck by a powerful burst of energy from the Soul itself.
So yeah, wouldn't matter that now we know the Highborne and Night Elves are different, I'd still say in Deathwing's insane apes**t mind, he sees them all the same, those who stole his trinket and made him mad.
Edits: Found it.
In time, it became clear that the powerful Soul was corrupting Neltharion's body, causing it to bloat and tear; his beloved creation was ripping him apart. With the aid of his goblin artificers, Neltharion had immense adamantium plates bolted into the scales in order to keep the destructive power at bay. Driven completely to madness, it is around this time (probably influenced by the future-Korialstrasz, known as Krasus) that the artifact became known as the Demon Soul, and that Neltharion received the name he is known by today. In order to prevent it from being used against them again, Broxigar, Korialstrasz and Krasus, along with the night elf druid Malfurion Stormrage, attempted to steal the artifact. Malfurion succeeded in obtaining the artifact, but was captured by Queen Azshara's soldiers...led by his own brother, Illidan, who had agreed to obtain the artifact to allow Sargeras entry into Azeroth.
The Soul was used as part of a portal to be opened within the depths of the Well of Eternity itself. Before the portal could be opened, however, the Soul's spellwork was disrupted and back in the possession of the resistors. After the Legion was banished from Azeroth and the Sundering of the World finished, Malfurion and the four remaining Aspects placed a spell on the Demon Soul that would prevent Deathwing from ever using it again, and then hid the foul disk in a place where only the four dragons would find it...but not Deathwing.

Ah yeah! That sounds more like the stuff I remember - good find.
The "new" Queen Azshara could fix up with Deathwing... one way or the other. But it's possible, otherwise no Naga would've helped him.

From what the naga said in Night of the Dragon, it sounds like they only helped because they were afraid of something; either Sinestra was the fear or it was Deathwing, and I'm leaning more towards her as they only had Deathwing in the Epilogue.

... or Deathwing was pulling all the strings. Did it actually say that Sinestra "ordered" it, or was even aware that it happened? Could've been a trap planned only by Deathwing, that she didn't even know about.

Well everything she was doing was at the hand of Deathwing, they revealed that at the end, she was hearing a "voice" and it turns out it was his, telling her how to do everything. I swear, he makes the Old God looks like amatuers with all his puppet mastery. So more then likely, She threatened the Naga's, telling them to keep out any dragon intruder's but it was done under his orders, as he whispered them into her mind...... Gotta feel really sorry for the old girl, get's maimed and disfigured while mating with Deathwing, then her twilight child eats her, what a way to go out.

Indeed, he was already a puppet master before he officially became Deathwing. And we all know what ~10.000 years does to some people.
Funny thing just struck me... no one actually destroyed the eggs in the Obsidian Sanctum. We sure assured the demise - and test - of Sartharion and the newest (known) breed of the Twilight Dragonflight: Tenebron, Shadron and Vesperon. I'm still slightly perplexed as to you the place, or event, isn't even
mentioned
by any of the other flights.

Yeah, Blizzard really needs to do something with the Sanctums instead of just having the loot pinata in there. And with the supposed spin on the next expansion, doubt we will ever see the other realms open now..... /sigh.

Yeah.. that saddens me a bit too. So much potential. But well, I guess there's still a possibility that the choosing of a new leader of the Blue Dragonflight could happen (Kalecgos?), something more with the Infinite Dragonflight in the Bronze (We're still uncertain about quite a few things with it all), a connection to the Emerald Dream in the Green....
Yeah well, with a portal tossed there, along with phasing, it's easily possible.

Id say Tyrigosa over Kalecgos, just because she is a princess of the Flight where he's only a standard member. Myself, I'm kinda hoping for Civil War between the Blues; on the one side you have Tyri and Kalec and their followers who want to stop the conflicts, on the other you have one of Malygos's sons/daughters who wants to keep the War going, as they believe in what their father was doing.

I'm so glad I got this post written, and got to get the new fourth part out before Blizzcon.
Link, if you want to read
, it's a bit too big just to paste here.
Yay Deathwing, but still really looking forward to seeing the World Map, and how exactly it's going to look.

Heh, nice article Gnub.... and all I have to say is...
THE DESTROYER IS BACK! ALL BOW DOWN AND KISS YOUR ARSE'S GOODBYE!
(Also, instead of No Fat chicks, No Big Breasted Snake Woman!.... I should get that made into a T-shirt.)

King Varian shall stand vigilant! Glory to the Alliance!
But, aside from that, you think this x-pac will be like just trying to survive, actually declaring war on who started everything, or declare all out war on Alliance and Horde?

Also, new zone named Twilight Highlands, I smell Twilight flight members! And again, poor Netherdrakes all captured in Deathwing's new home, so many will die to feed the Twilight. I know this will be disliked, but I'm seriously hoping that the Old God's have nothing at all to do with Cataclysm... except maybe the Old God in Darkshore because seeing as that Zone get's wtfpwnd, you have to wonder if maybe he's finally been freed. But as for the rest; make Aszhara only have cameo's to set it all up for the Rising of Nazjatar and her Old God in her own expansion and leave Deathwing to his glory, because only the Earth Warder could destroy most of lower Azeroth in such a timely and unique matter.

And I usually try not to double post but something came to me, and it ties in with Old God section of this: Seeing as Darkshore get's wtfpwn'd in the brief flash we see during the Cataclysm trailor, what happens to our friend the Old God in the Master's Glaive with the giant Sword in his.... well don't know what to call that so I'll just leave it blank. Is the body destroyed by the Cataclysm, is the Sword broken, does he break free? I'm looking forward to finding out about that more then almost anything, including if they'll tie him into the Dream or not when it finally comes, either as the Expansion between Cataclysm and Maelstorm, or as the major content patch a la Sunwell between them both.

Ooh, yeah... We suspect that the Old God there (if it actually is an Old God) is the thing corrupting the Emerald Dream through the Nightmare, even though it's been incapacited for the most part. What effect would it have on the Nightmare should it break free? I suspect we'd see a massive increase in the Nightmare's scope and power.
Wouldn't that be ironic? In addition to all Deathwing has done to the Aspects in the past, now he just indirectly wtfpwned Ysera.

I think we will see quite a bit of Old Gods material, but in another way. Basically, since we're going to the Elemental Planes, we'll get to do alot more with the Elemental Lieutenants: More Ragnaros!
Anyway, the Twilight Highlands is also the main base of operations for the Twilight's Hammer. Something I got by as well - the name doesn't seem to be a coincidence somehow, as they are now Deathwing's lapdops. I can't wait to kick their behinds.
