I'm not overly weird, I think. I mean, not more than the average person. I think we're all a little weird- most people just don't stop to think about what they do and why it's weird.
I'm totally more weird than everyone.

That's what I mean! I think everyone is weird (even if they aren't weird about the same things) and THAT is normal, whereas the people who try to come off as totally normal are suspicious.

Heh, we like people that we have something in common with. :P Hehe, exactly. ;)
most definitly :P
I'm glad that there's a new user within my own age-range too xD since i'm one of very few users who are in the mid 30's.
heck, half the admin staff is younger than me T_T I was starting to feel like a grandpa'
Just check the thread of "What was your first video-game" :P most of my first video-games were from a time were not even windows existed, nor color monitors XD (I remember having to use that crappy DOS system for everything, and no mouse. Now that was lame. To execute a game? cd D: CD Games CD sokoban DIR Sokoban.exe)
Anyhow,
this
is one of the funniest lines in Mass Effect 2. Its even more poignant if you're playing a Female Commander Shepard.

Since getting online about ten years ago, for some reason I am always older than everyone else. XD So, I'm used to being the "grandma" of the group.

But, I bet that was how they executed Number Munchers (remember that game?) and Oregon Trail (
original
Oregon Trail) when I was in elementary school. I should check out the first video game thread because, while we didn't have anything like that at home, my daycare lady's son had an Atari, and I played Bump 'n' Jump and Pitfall alllll the time. Those were my first video games.

Also, Rank, I also can't wait for ME3- I don't know if I have said. I've been pretty much playing Mass Effect 2.5, though, because I leveled my female Trooper in SWTOR to 50, and it was pretty much the same as playing Fem Shep. I need to hurry up and finish my second play-through of ME 2, though, so I have it to import. I was originally planning on 3 saves to import...but then a wild Star Wars appeared, so now 2 is about as high as I have hopes for.

Indeed. Best part is that in Venezuela, there's a week off starting on march 8 due to a national celebration. HO HO HO That means 7 days of non-stop Mass Effect 3 playing just for moi >=)

I know T_T I wanna play it so badly, but with the game costing 600k bolivares, and a gamecard (Which I need to punch in before I can start playing) costing 350k bolivares, I just can't scoop up that much money. At best I'll have enough money saved by may. And that's being optimistic, and asuming no RL emergency happens along the way.
I need to hurry up and finish my second play-through of ME 2, though, so I have it to import. I was originally planning on 3 saves to import
I originally wanted 3 files to import too, a Renegade Female Shepard (Main) a Paragon (romanceless) female shepard (Alt) and a Paragon Male Shepard.
But I Just can't stand Mark Meer's voice :S its just so LAME compared to the infinite GLORY of Jennifer Hale's voice it just doesn't do justice (Plus the way he says "About" really pisses me off)
So that one is ditched. I only have 2 files to import. I've just finished reading the newest comic "Mass Effect Invasion" and it was awesome, its a great build-up to ME3, and WAS gonna read the book "Mass Effect Deception" but the book ended up being so abysmally
horrible
, I'm just not gonna do it. Instead I'm just gonna pretend that book (And the events happening in it) don't exist.
lol

I always play paragon Shep- can't help it, most of the renegade choices do not appeal to me. And I always play female shep, because I don't want to be a boy :( The reason I want 2 playthroughs, is that my first play-through I did the Thane thing, and when I was done, I decided that ME3 would be much funnier if it had been Garrus, who could then make snarky Garus- like remarks to that moron from the first game. So I am redoing it, primarily because I want my Shepard to be the biggest b***h possible to Kaiden. I'm totally going to earn some renegade points on this.

this is why I love the morality system of Mass Effect, when compared to other alignment meters from other bioware games.
they aren't mutually exclusive.
I play what its commonly know as a"Renegon" (Renegade dialog options, Paragon endings to quests, the opposite "Paragade" would be paragon dialog options, renegade endings to quests)
I dislike the renegade parts where shepard displays bigotry towards aliens, corruption, complete disregard for the safety, or the happiness of the crew, ect.
But I love love love love LOVE the snarky remarks from the renegade dialog options. Specially in the first game, where the paragon shepard behaves like such a stiff, whereas Renegade shepard behaves a lot more like I would.
What can I say? I'm a rebel :P I have a strong anti-government attitude (mostly due to how crappy my own government is) and thus whenever I am treating with the council, I tell them where they can stick it. But I dislike bigotry, and I actually am nice to the crew.
Thus my shepard uses Renegade interrupts, renegade dialog options (specially the rebel and sarcastic/snarky ones) but when resolving most quests I tend to go for the paragon route. I spared the rachni queen, I spared Wrex, spared shiala, told mordin to keep the genophage cure instead of destroying it, blew up the collector base rather than turn it to the illusive man, saved all of the colonists on therum, ect ect.
Some renegade endings I did took was regarding corrupt politicians (Which I
HATE
with a searing scorching hatred that makes all the Justin Biever hatred on youtube seem like fangirl squees in comparison) I let the council die, I shot Joram Talid myself, I killed administer Anoleis, ect ect.
And I always play female shep, because I don't want to be a boy :(
I have no problem with genders on video-game protagonists, as long as they're done right. I loved Metal gear, which has one of the manliest protagonists ever (Solid Snake FTW) but I also love games that have strong female protagonists, which I tend to find more interesting than strong male leads.
Dunno why, but I have a fascination with Strong women (not for nothing I MARRIED ONE. XD OHHOHOOHOHOOOHHOOOHO)
In THIS particular case though, it has more to do with the fact that is
Jennifer Hale
voicing Shepard than anything else. She is THE BEST voice actress ever, and I am a huge fan. By sheer contrast, the voice actor for male shep is (IMO) so horrible, it further motivated me to play femshep exclusively.
Plus, a Small, slim, short, female shepard, headbutting a F*bleep*KING
KROGAN
is FAR more badass than a male shep would ever hope to be. If it was a guy, that scene could be chalked off to "Pfft, typical macho bravado" but since its a girl it evokes more of a feeling of "OMG, SHE MADE AN ALIEN 3 TIMES HER SIZE BACK DOWN!"

I'm not going to lie, when I got into a fist fight with that alien in the Shadow Broker DLC, I felt like it was a new level of bad-ass.

that's the "massive effect" one gets when playing Mass effect (redundancy asides)
those moments are so awesome, if one does not feels like a badass, one must not be human.
Brief list of badass moments in both mass effect games so far:
Telling the council where to shove it. (and in creative ways too xD "Do you enjoy causing genocide shepard?" Shepard: "depends on the specie............... turian" / Council: "Commander did you just called us just to hang up on us again? I fail to find it amusing" Shepard: "Whoops" *hangs up* Joker: That never gets old huh commander? :P)
Emerging from the Wreckage of Sovereign at the end of the first game.
Punching that annoying reporter........... TWICE.
meeting a young inexperienced show-off kid on Omega who wants to join the mercs, only for shepard to casually destroy his gun in 2 secs and tell him to go home.
Shutting up that VERY annoying krogan, by shooting at the gas pipe right beneath him, watch him gloat how my accuracy sucks, only for me to fire a second shot igniting the whole thing.
Headbutting a krogan and making him back off.
Giving a krogan a NASTY stare daring him to step outside the bar for a good'ol fashioned brawl, only to have that krogan back off. (seriously, shep loves to show those krogans who has a bigger pair of quads, even fem!shep. SPECIALLY fem!shep.)
Stopping 2 Turian muggers, unarmed, within 3 seconds without even brushing off the hair.
Stopping that turian harassing the dancer in the club and sending him flying.
Sucker-punching the shadowbroker in the face. THE most powerful influential man on the whole galaxy, who's reach extends far longer than even the illusive man, and I sucker punched him in the face :P 4 times.
Delivering a COMPLETE "Shut the f*bleep*k up" speech to the admiralty board on Tali's trial, and get hem to declare her innocent even without evidence :P
Dropping off that merc from the 86th floor of a skyscraper while delivering a badass one-liner.
And of course, how could one forget
this
?
And this list is not even 50% of all the badass moments in mass effect.
IF i had to list them all, this would take all day ,and probably multiple posts. (Plus words don't do justice to many of them :P they have to be seen to be believed)
