I, like, tried to gently hint that most of our customers in that line of work were large companies, and that if she wasn't able to order in truckloads, she would end up being charged the same price as the people she wanted to resell too, so she'd have to count on them paying 10-20% more than wholesale value in order to buy from her, which doesn't leave them a decent profit margin. I don't know that it stuck, though.

Long ago, tales weren't meant to entertain kids, they were meant to scare them off to prevent them from doing crazy sh1t, I mean, you would pale if you ever read the original Red Riding hood (Hint: The wolf wanted to rape little red riding hood, and actually forced her to eat the remains of her grandma')
Holy hell, that's pretty grim.

well, I'm not quite complaining but must point out a slight mistake there, These tales weren't meant to be childish, they were meant to be horrible.
Yeah and they changed them to make them in to childrens stories. If you want the original horrible stuff, don't turn to disney. That's not what they're for.
:P you missunderstood me, I agree with you in that scaring children to make them obedient isn't something I aprove.
I just wish Disney invented their own stories rather than take dark tales and children-fy them. Ya know, like Toy Story, or Lion King.

Yes, the original tales are warnings, not fluff pieces.
Edit: Rank, Lion King is Hamlet lol.

I wonder what Aesop's Fables were originally like then...

I'm glad they took those old stories cause I think they're still interesting, even without rape and gore.
Indeed.
Tangled
shows that the gouging out of eyes and pregnancies and everything else is unnecessary compared to simple character development, for example.

Still wussified compared to the originals.....as even the stabbing is really really really bloodless....which makes the disintegrating of Gothel the supreme manipulator that much more off.

Again because Disney are taking a story and putting their own spin on it. Do you really think that rape and bloody violence are appropriate themes for Disney's key demographic? The reason that they use plays and fairy tales is because they're already well-established and already have a series of different canons, this is just a different one.

No I don't think the rape is...but the blood can be: they've had that before after all. It's just a little jarring to see Eugene get stabbed then see the knife a moment later completely clean.
Nearly as bad as the 'update' of Romeo and Juliet set in the 90's, with guns instead of swords; the final scene where Juliet, while making the dagger speech, shoots herself in the head with a high caliber hand gun(and puts the weapon to her temple)...and they pull back to show her head is completely intact, with no bullet mark anywhere on her skull.....guess she had a heart attack from the sound of the gun.

It's like Romeo and Juliet with guns, with 4Kids screwing around with it in the end!

I still understood what you meant. Yugioh the Abridged rips on 4Kids a lot, hence my comment.
