Well, actually, I have a large number of games I do want for it...but still, right now, other things needs the money more. Plus, got FF4: Complete on the way heh.

I'm such a non-gamer gamer.
I've not even played Dragon Age, or Mass Effect, or like *name popular game here*.

I've never played Dragon Age or Mass Effect...and in all honesty, haven't really wanted to.

Thinking I have an idea of what kind of games you like, Adams, I would really not suggest Mass Effect, but Dragon Age (Especially Origins and Origins: Awakening) would probably suit you.

I mainly don't want to play them due to the hype around them; YOU HAVE TO PLAY YOU HAVE TO PLAY YOU HAVE TO PLAY! from some people just get's really really really annoying.
Main choices are: Final Fantasy XIII, Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope, Tales of Vesperia, and Valkyria Chronicles to start with heh, and I'll go from there once I've figured it out.

Ah, I see.
In that case, I vote for Final Fantasy XIII or Star Ocean 4.

Honestly, since most of those are dropping down steadily in price, was considering picking them up en mass lol.

What if I went "YOU HAVE TO PLAY YOU HAVE TO PLAY YOU HAVE TO PLAY!" with those? :P

Unless you suddenly have 500+ clones appearing Patty, wouldn't work. I've also wanted to play all of those games I've listed since I saw them in the store/heard they were coming out. Other then FF13, which is in between 'you have to play' and 'OMFG don't play this piece of #$%^', I don't recall people nattering about playing them lol; as the rabid hordes of people who feel like you need to play ME and DA seem to be lol.

Just remember, popularity does not mean a game is bad. Lots of less than great games are really popular: Gears of War, Killzone, Halo, Call of Duty (fun, but really not that great if you ask me), etc.
I've played Mass Effect, though, and I don't care if it was Britney Spears and Paris Hilton's favorite game ever, it's a damn good game, if just for the story and characters. The gameplay is fun, to be sure, but I don't think I've ever really been as personally attached to a fictional character than I have in Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2.
I played Dragon Age as well, but I didn't like it as much. A combination of way more micro-managing and my character getting stuck with these ridiculous eyebrows that make him look nervous all the time (yes, I really am that petty... :P My character is supposed to look like me, but he always looks like he is afraid of being silently judged.) And then I promised I'd bring a certain root to this guy to save a dying dog, and then I forgot, and couldn't go back to do it, so I just took a break, and haven't really played since.

I thought Mass Effect 2 was one of the most popular games of all time, or maybe that's just me.

I do believe it is, yes.

From what I have seen, looks like a mix from Dead Space and Tron (the new movie). Not really appealing to me D:
