Yes, this is the shot rotation for MM hunters based on the sticky.
It says that this is to get out all the highest damage shots first, and that makes sense. But here's my question:
I currently use the rotation
Serpent > Arcane > Steady > *Aimed > Steady > Arcane > Steady > Chimera > Steady > Arcane > Steady > Repeat from *
This way, serpent is always refreshed at ~2 seconds left, nothing is on CD when its time to use it want to use it, and I keep a constant DPS instead of one side of the rotation being severely more damaging than the other.
Both rotations
should
put out similar DPS in a fight, since you will likely go OOM at the same time regardless of when you shoot, however that's up for debate since certain effects like Replenishment might have a greater effect on a slower mana drain than a large one.
The main difference I see is, like I stated before, the damage output is lopsided. Which is okay depending on if your fighting a more hectic battle (i.e. if you have a limited time to do all the damage you can before the fight switches gears.) than a laid back one.
But I'm looking for more opinions on this.
Are both rotations fundamentally similar?
Is one, in fact, better than the other by way of actually improving overall DPS in some way?
