Okay, been reading a little and thinking a bit too... is restokin still viable in pvp? Played it @ 70 and it was good fun :) not sure if it works in wotlk tho'
This is less about serious arena with high ratings, more a general BG spec with some arena thrown in.
The main question i have is what is the "optimal" spec for a restokin? is there one, or does it really depend on what you want to more of in terms of healing/dps.
Here's something i came up with, seems to pick up everything needed with a balanced dps/healing role:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0EGbzbIoIdZZf0IubuxVzhBiggest hole seems to be lack of Nature's grace tho' i'm not sure how important this is :-S (perhaps swapping 3 points around in the balance tree to accomodate this would be adviseable...)
On a further note, would the spec work for pve, in terms of instancing in wotlk content. If so how far could you take it without having to be "carried" by others in your group?
Any suggestions or constructive criticism would be appreciated =)
Edit: PS. Glyph suggestions too please :)

For PvP Battlegrounds, i think it still works.
I specced this
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0xGbubIohdZZf0IubuxVzAat the start of last week, and have done a lot of BGs all week.
I found it works surprisingly well, and perhaps more importantly, is just as fun as it was at 70 :-) Possibly more fun, because of the pure awesomeness of Swiftmend which the lvl 70 version didn't have.
The main difference in our specs is that i got
Empowered Rejuvenation instead of
Gensis. I'm not totally sure how well 120% of
bonus healing, weighs up to a straight 5% tbh. I was guessing it was a bit more but don't have any figures. It's a moot point though because if you move the Genesis points you can also use your 3
Moonfury points to get
Nature's Grace. Whilst 10% less dmg on 3 major spells and 5% on both dots is a loss, they're good talents, Nature's Grace is really great.. because you have
Improved Regrowth also.
Nature's Grace (almost) on demand definitely increases your HPS for burst healing. You can fairly reliably get super fast Regrowth>Nourish>Swiftmend type combos to heal most of your HP bar back in 3 secs, without overly long casting.
In classic Restokin style you can also Regrowth>Starfire or Regrowth>Wrath for stepping up the DPS pressure on someone.
Defensively restokin is still great. Casting dps and CCing in plate armor. That you can Abolish Poison in Moonkin form now is a big plus. Very handy. Biggest problem I had was with DKs. Solely because of the silences/interupts/slows AND the hot eating dot. I've yet to think of a strong tactic for them but i do have similar prob with deep resto pvp atm so maybe it's just me :-) Druid Killer is what DK stands for.
One thing also is for sure about this spec, with good gear you are 99% as good as a deep resto for healing a BG team. Wild Growth is pretty much the only loss, and ofc the playstyle is quite different.
(for reference - i tried the spec with 500 resil, 1800 sp, 18k hp half-pvp gear)
For PvE i can't comment. I didn't try it.
Arena, didn't try.
for Glyphs:
- Switmend. Ofc. 100% essential.
Insect Swarm seemed like a good choice. Making the DoT dmg worthwhile is a big part of the spec, and losing the 4% miss chance feels a bit too random to care about in pvp
As for Moonfire, i really couldn't decide whether Glyphed (more total dmg no crit) or un-Glyphed was better. For 1v1 fights with people I think glyphed was often better. You win by attrition. However, when assisting other peoples DPS (which is very common for restokin in BGs ofc) it sometimes felt like the feasable moonfire crit chance gave un-Glyphed an edge. Cyclone>Starfire>Moonfire type moves are much nicer when the moonfire crits :-)- Another possibility is Regrowth Glyph which i didn't try, but I didn't seem to be spamming Regrowth on people enough for it to be worth it (more for mana and cast time reasons than raw healing reasons)
- I am going to try out the Wrath Glyph also next time i spec restokin (which will be soon). (Assuming that it stacks with Nature's Focus to make Wrath have no pushback?)
