Alchemy worthless for a druid?

Hello everyone. Just looking for other opinions. Currently on my druid I'm an MT or OT depending on the fight. I have alchemy as my "main" profession but I'm starting to wonder if it is even worth having. Sure the trinkets one can make are nice, and endless mana/health pots are nice (granted they don't return much) and the extended duration or increase stats are nice on flasks. I'm just trying to figure out if I should drop alchemy for inscription or LW. I'm thinking Inscription mainly because I do not have the time in any given day to farm Sons of Hodir rep for the shoulder enchants (and they really aren't that spectacular for tanking)
LW would be nice, but it's costly to level (especially without skinning). Any suggestions? or Comments? I'm just curious as to what others think/feel

The main point for alchemy is either the stam trinket for those specific occasions where you need a *!@#ton of stam (2nd best dropping stam trinket being at 57), or mixology (i do'nt know what the effect for tanking flasks is).
That's what you want to weight against other profession benefits. (there's also the 4h flasks but that's only about money, not performance)

Garzahd, you have made very good points.
I originally picked up alchemy because I was a resto druid in BC. Making myself elixirs was always a bonus.
I suppose my issue is the fact that I have been under using alchemy. I haven't even maxed it out (haven't had the time or ambition) I'm near max, just not quite. I will look into maxing it and making a few more flasks and what not.
Thanks for the feedback!

Honestly, I've never had issues with Alchemy. Herbalism is a lucrative profession and the trinkets have been good to me. When I'm not doing something with a group, I'm usually questing for achievements, and the herbs I get on the way become my bonuses for having Alchemy. Could they be better? Yes. Are they bad? Not by any stretch.
Right now, the Elixir of Major Agility and Elixir of Protection are your best bets giving you something like 55 agility and 1000 armor, nothing to sneeze at. When we get Savage Defense, the Guru's Elixir (+26 to all after Mixology) will take the cake without a doubt since it'll provide armor, dodge, health, and crit/AP for Savage Defense. Could you get away with buying them at higher costs? Sure. I'm hoping they'll buff Alchemy trinkets and the Mixology boosts, but that's just me. I've seen many other Alchemists drop Herbalism for Enchanting for bonuses since it means a single retraining and a profession self-supported until at least level 70, assuming you can solo dungeons.
Now, as a druid, you have four specs available to you. While Mining/Jewelcrafting might -currently- be the best for tanking (or pvp, given the problem of high dps), it might not be for DPS (melee or caster) or healing. For a mixed approach, I'd suggest Skinning / Leatherworking. The bonus to critical rating from Skinning is useful for three different specs
(Eclipse/Nature's Grace/Mana return for Moonkin, extra combo points + Imp. LotP for Cat, Savage Defense + extra rage + Imp. LotP)
in addition to more damage, and the Fur Lining bonuses are currently strong in their own right. Spell power for casters, stamina for pvp/tanks, and attack power for kitty dps (and potentially for bear tanking a la Savage Defense).
Honestly, it is up to you, but if you take Professions to burrow yourself into a single spec, I think as a Druid you are rejecting the best part of our class -- its hybrid nature. Currently, I've got Herbalism and Alchemy, though Skinning and Leatherworking seem to be a choice I might take up in the near future, if only for a change of scenery.

1) If you dont have time to grind rep for Son of whatever, then how you gonna have time to grind mats to level up JC? If you tell me you have cash and will buy mats, then just buy tokens for Son rep and turn them in.
2) For people who tell you X prof give X more stats, they are all wrong. All profession (except gathering/engineering/tailoring) BoP benefit are all normalised. (Example: JC special gems will give you +X more stats over normal gem, but it will be the same extra amount than mixology will grant you and the same amount of +extra stat inscription shoulder enchant give over Son's enchant)
3) The only difference between Alchemy and JC are the trinkets.
Alch
vs
JC
. It is +40% to potions vs 36 stamina.

Valid points. I have decided to keep alchemy. I have 4 other 70's with whom I can level their professions to further embed my "mini economy" Which was the primary reason for having so many higher level alts. I do like the ability to gather herbs in flight form. Lifeblood is good in a few situations, but it's those few situations that make it worthwhile.
for example on some boss fights where our healers are busy raid healing I'll pop frenzied regen (have the glyph) and pop lifeblood it's a good chunk of a heal.
I also respec quite often. I went resto last night just to *!@# around and see how different druid healing has become.
I was just becoming perturbed by the lackluster fun in alchemy. Now when I'm bored I just farm herbs and plan to sell them. Thanks for the replies :)
