I'm working on my druid's gear so that I may function well in raids. I checked the stickies for some advice on gemming and although Kramp's post does indeed contain a list of plausible tanking gems, I did not really find tips on the actual gemming.
The basic choices are of course:
Red -
Delicate Scarlet RubyBlue -
Solid Sky SapphireAlthough yellow gems do not carry the preferred stats, I match my sockets as long as the bonus is worthwhile, so there's also going to be yellow slots to fill. So:
Yellow -
Enduring Forest Emerald?
Other options under consideration are the
Vivid Forest Emerald and
Glinting Monarch Topaz.
Since I need to have 2 blues socketed into the gear for my
Austere Earthsiege Diamond to work but currently don't have blue slots at all, I decided to put a Sky Sapphire into my belt (buckle), and to socket a purple gem in one of my red slots. If the
Shining Twilight Opal were in game it had been the obvious choice; but it's not and I picked a
Regal Twilight Opal. I preferred this over a
Guardian's Twilight Opal as I felt I had quite some expertise already but lacked dodge.
I'm mainly uncertain about the yellow slot issue. I figure most differences are hardly significant and there's a lot of personal preference involved (i.e. pure avoidance vs. tps or your ability to cat)... What'd you think? Anything I could/should have done differently from your point of view?
