'Stacking' MP5 is huge mistake at the moment.
There's currently no long-duration fight, that requires a huge amount of AoE healing. (Chain heal spamming)
I did
3 drakes with 322 MP5, and I had 8k mana left. (21k mana pool, Mana Tide Totem ready)
So to me, there's no need to stack MP5 currently.
To the question of this topic:
Crit is indeed a very useful stat, but you shouldn't "go for it" on gems & enchants. Why? Because with the right
spec, you'll get
14% from talents alone.
I would go for spellpower, haste and intellect.

Actually,
Sapphiron is a long and AoE intensive fight. I've never gone OOM, but I've dropped Mana Tide more than once on occasion.
It's not the longest fight in the game, but it's very healer intensive.

Crit is good mostly for heroics. stack mp5 for raids. its good to have crit in raids, makes the chain heals a bit bigger, but dont rely solely on that. Haste is good, pump out faster heals in either heroics or raids.
1200 +healing
15% crit
200 mp5
should be good for starting resto.
You have it backwards. Stacking MP5 for heroics is good, but you should stack int/haste/crit for raids. High throughput (Healing per second) is what matters in raids, and MP5 doesn't directly affect that. Replenishment washes away all your mana problems.
This is true. If you take a look at the gear drops in Naxxramas, you'll notice a lot of the shaman gear has much more Crit/Haste and a drop in numbers regarding MP5 (i.e.
Grips of Fierce Pronouncements vs
Handgrips of the Foredoomed and
Mail Girdle of the Audient Earth vs
Necrogenic Belt) . I'm currently at the point where I'm starting to dump lots of MP5 gear I accumulated in Heroics in favor for such gear. I worried at first at losing so much MP5, but then I noticed I was never going OOM before and even after upgrading.
For now, stack Intellect and MP5 because you might still need to get used to your spell rotation/routine and you definitely don't want to run out of mana early. Once you get more comfortable with your mana regeneration, then you can start looking at Haste and Crit.
