Wowhead problems with the new(?) Windows Explorer
Return to board index
Post by

So I just downloaded Internet explorer 8 and I'm having problems when I view wowhead. For example, sometimes when I view a page for an item, npc, etc., the tabs disappear like "Comments" and "Screenshots" and all that.
Also, when I use the dropdown menu when I mouseover...let's say...the "Site feedback" section on the top of this page, the menu takes up the whole screen. When I mouseover something on the menu and it's capable of opening another menu, that menu overlaps the original menu making it difficult to navigate the site.
Any help to fix this would be appreciated!
(And please no "that's why i use a mac lololol" crap...I DON'T CARE)

You will probably have to view the site in
compatibility mode
, if I remember correctly, should be a broken page icon on the toolbar. Otherwise you will have to wait until Wowhead devs can test and fix the site specifically for IE8.

Sure, the
old IE6
was horrible. Firefox also has issues, and OP does not care about this. Opera is the browser that most correctly views sites following the set web standard in my experience, if you're going to be boasting about it.
You can check pages (not entire sites) for standardization errors here:
http://validator.w3.org/
Note that most working sites do have some common errors, like not providing an image text for images (so blind people can surf).

Sko, you might want to consider adding the following HTTP header to force IE8 into compatibility mode for now:
X-UA-Compatible: IE=7
