World of Warcraft, despite being a game, provides those players who are willing to learn with extremely valuable real-life skills. Among these are:
-Dealing with stupid people
-Dealing with ignorant people
-Dealing with handicapped people
-Dealing with arrogant people
And most of all, dealing with narrowminded slobmonsters who cant see past their own noses, much like the politicians of today's world governments.
As an example, many players in the World of Warcraft believe only frost specced deathknights can tank. This is not unlike the many United States politicians who believe only suicide-bomber specced terrorists are capable of committing terroristic acts. Play world of warcraft, and gain the skills to deal with these idiots!

They're turning you down despite the fact A) you're still leveling (you're not level 80 yet, so it's not as big of a deal) and B) you have a bunch of tanking gear?
Unfortunately, it seems like these people you're dealing with are extremely narrow minded. They believe that Death Knights specifically have one tanking spec—Frost—and that all other talent specs will not suffice. It's a shame how people judge books by their covers; or in this case, a DK based on his spec, and not on the more important things (tanking skill, gear, etc.)
As one of middle school teachers said: "You can't fix stupid." That just about sums it up. And, my friend, it looks like it's up to at least try and prove them wrong. :-)

Nah, doesn't look like you've been neglecting stamina. In fact, for a character that's still leveling, that's pretty decent tanking gear.
EDIT: Your armor rating is a tad low. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, and I'm going to guess your armor rating is at the rate because you were in Blood Presence.
There are some great pieces of tanking gear that I believe Blacksmiths can craft. It's the Cobalt set or something? You might want to considering buying a few of those pieces to replace some of your DPS gear.

I wonder if sometimes these idiots get this idea from the following made up scenario:
Guy getting the group together: Dangit, there are no tanks in the queue.
Random DPS: SuperLeetAwesomeDK might be able to tank?
SLADK: Hell no! I'm unholy and I DPS... see the ghoul and whirly bones?
GGGT: So wait, not all DKs can tank? I thought blizzard said they all are able to?
SLADK: No wai! Only frost can tank.
GGGT: LF1M Tank! Please any prot warriors/pallies, bears, or frost DKs! Help us out!
With all that aside, I've never experienced this myself. The best thing we can do is try to reeducate the retards. Just to give some hope and another funny situation (but true) I did have this experience the other day after tanking a PUG through a speedy Nexus run:
Priest Healer: Shari, why can't there be more pug tanks like you?
Me: Cause normally we're playing our mains?
Healer: If only my main weren't my Resto Druid, I still have the same problem there.
<checks healers guild and something clicks>
Me: Soandso?
Healer: Who is this?
Me: Nystali
Healer: Go figure that I already know the good tank.

but you slam his 11k health...and its unbuffed as well... he could do with a couple of better items sure but why you being a richard?
people play this GAME to have fun, and yes some people have no idea what they are doing and don't listen to advice and should be /ignore but he's posting for some advice, so give him some decent constructive feedback rather than burn him down.
Groups wipe from time to time, its part of the learning experience, if you don't want to contribute to people asking for help then stop posting here.
and
Sry, i do mean this to be insulting...
what are you? 12? Maybe you're a great wow player, but in RL you're a jerk

Firstly, if you're getting hit by slam, that makes you a bad tank... not your lack of gear.
Also, the physical damage you listed is mitigated by armor.
the only thing to deal with is the shadow damage from dark smash... again, avoidable damage if you just move.

I tank unholy and I love it. I have tried frost, but it just not my style. You really do want high def, not only for the crit reduction, but also for the parry/dodge/miss so gear out for def until you are capped (540). Don't worry too much about that till you are 80 though. Shoot for it, but don't feel that you can't tank without it.
You can check my spec in my armory, it works great for me. I have yet to have any problems holding aggro, even with people in my groups doing about 2500 dps, and I constantly get tells from people with compliments and have about 25 healers on my friends list who msg me for runs all the time. Just gotta learn the rotations.
For AoE pulls my rotation is:
DnD, IT, PS, Pest, UB - after this I cycle through the mobs to look at threat and see who needs topping off. Refresh DnD and diseases as needed.
Single Target pulls:
IT, PS, BS, SS, BS - Just refresh diseases as needed and spam SS whenever it is up, BS when they are not death runes. I also have RS macroed into my SS so it is constantly getting used which is key to having high single target threat I pretty much never use DC because RS takes most of my RP.

I love Unholy tanking, i've actually never tanked an instance in my life and ran three in a row (UK, Gun Drak and Halls of Stone) at my level and while i'm not completely at the cap i need, i had no problems holding threat or anything, my health only dipped once other than that, it was cake for my healer. No one died at all all three runs. (if you armory me, please be aware i'm not wearing what tanking gear i have AtM)
To the OP, Unholy is great Tanking spec (as are the other two) they all have advantages and disadvantages, the person you dealt with is an idiot pure and simple. But to solve your problem, run instances with friends/family/guildies so you won't have that problem again.
