I was tanking in heroic Gundrak . And for some reason, my health went down really quickly even tho only 3 mobs were hitting me. And when I check my combat log, I found every single hit I took was critical strikes! even with 3/3 points in Survival of the fittest.
is there a bug or something?
my states:
28k hp
29k armor
33% dodge

Not entirely true. You cant be crit by -most- PvE targets with 3/3 sotf, but there are some mobs in the game which have higher than normal crit chance.
However, if "every single hit" was a crit, then this is probably a bug.

He's not saying its dependent on having EXTRA defense on gear, He's saying you have to have your Defense Skill at level-80 max of 400. This doesn't require you to wear gear with defense rating, it just requires you to get hit in the face many times.
(Think back to when you were leveling... Ding 79! Next mob: "Your skill in Defense has increased to 391")
The chance to be critically struck is 5.6%, assuming the guy swinging is 3 levels above you and your defense is 400 -- SotF reduces this by 6%, and you're uncrittable with no +defense. If you somehow made it to 80 without being hit in the face enough times to be 400 Defense Skill, you might get critted.

It could be he leveled boom or resto, and just switched to tanking without having his skills maxed out.
This would be a very random happening indeed tho. If this is true, I give parrazell props for pointing this out, because 99% of the players would not catch this. I know I wouldn't.

1) You cant be crit with 3/3 fitness if mobs is 3 level over you or less
2) If you lose big chunk of hp and it look like a crit, it is a cruching blow. You must have just hit 80 and you still have 395/400 defense, which allow crushing blow.

Crushing blows were removed unless the mob is 4 levels above you. In regard to the posts and being crit, Some mobs have a higher crit % than other mobs. For example: The elementals in HoL have almost an 8% crit chance. I'll get the link to the mob's comments when i can find it. There's probably many situations where the mobs have higher crit %, they just arent' all reported yet.
Whether it's a bug or working as intended I have no idea, but I AM pretty sure that as of right now none of the higher crit % mobs are bosses, so that's still good. Hehe. :)

Here's a good example:

And here's another good example:

These are the only examples I know off the top of my head because I noticed they were critting me so I looked them up. :) Cheers

@Thuya: Read what i said. Crushing blow is defense based, not level based. You can get crushed if your defense difference is EQUIVALENT of 4+ levels.

Mushroom boss in Heroic OK, lowers defense by 500, leaving you VERY receptable for crits..
