How can I see my "total" hit? If I look at my toon's sheet, I see (under hit rating) "172 hit rating - 5.25%". I'm a
Draenei
and I've spent 1 point in
Focused aim
, so I should have a nice +2% bonus. Does it mean that my final hit is
7.25
%?

Yes, that means that you have 7.25% hit.
Your pet, while on range of your aura, has 6% hit (Focused Aim doesn't go for the pet) and hit only goes on full numbers (so, 6.99 = 6 for pet).

Fine, thanks.

Hmmm well being MM specced that's not a big problem, but I will keep in mind for when Blizz will re-buff the BM tree.
and hit only goes on full numbers (so, 6.99 = 6 for pet).
Oooh that's interesting, I really did not know that. I suppose crit % works the same way, is it? So having 30.01% or 30.99% is the same (it will be a flat 30.00%). Am I right?

This was also discussed in
this
post.
My understanding as of the latest patch is ...
A hunters hit cap is generally accepeted to be at 8% (or 262) at level 80. Using the Focused Aim 3/3 talent (1% per point) in the Marksman tree CAN also allow the hunter to use at little at 5% (or 164) to achieve being hit capped.
The problem is the method Blizz uses to proc critical strikes and then calculate damage. If a hunter is at 5% (164 Hit Rating for example) with Focused Aim (+3%), the attack roll is generated and checked against the hit percentage. If it falls within that percentage then a separate roll is made to determine if a "critical strike" has occured. If so, the damage is calculated accordingly and everyone but the target it happy. However, if the hit roll falls outside of the 5% in the "miss" category, a separate test is performed using Focused Aim to determine if the attack actually hit anyway. If it did indeed hit, regular damage is done only. The critical strike roll is NOT made when the hit is made by the Focused Aim talent.
So, here is the quandary. Is it better to have the 262 hit rating and be able to proc a critical strike with every successful hit? Or, is it better to have a 164 hit rating and the additional 3% into Focused Aim talent where on some hits you are guaranteed never to have the opportunity to proc a critical strike? Using those additional points to increase Agility, Attack Power, Critical Strike, Armor Penetration, etc.? I believe the answer lies with the preference of the hunter. Lacking detailed recorded in-game evidence and several hours of research and math calculations, the hunter preference is really the only concern.
If anyone has some hard data on this, I would love to review it.

Hunter hitcap is actually 263 (262 = 7.99, remember the pet =P)
Pet crit has nothing to do with yours, so it doesn't matters what your hit is.
Oh, and apparently FA has some bug that lowers your crit.

It is not a bug that lowers crit. When Blizz calculates a hit using Focused Aim (FA) after a miss from your regular hit chance. If you indeed "hit" because of points in the FA talent, it does not have a chance to crit per the Blizzard method. There is no lowering of crit, it is the inability to crit via a "hit" from FA. This is by design.
It is true that FA is not applied to your pet. The pet will still need the hit cap to have maximum performance.
Additionally, 0.38% (read 1 point vs. hit cap) is largely insignificant when describing hit rating.
