So there is this entrepreneur on our server. Rumor has it that he owns two thirds of all auctions up on the AH. As somebody who would like to make some gold somehow, what can I or the server do to break his hold on it? I always undercut generously, but this guy is on a whole other level.
I'm not looking to earn more than him, but I would like to earn a decent wage.
Any tips?

id try and convinve everyone on your sever to not buy his stuff? and if this is a rumor go check it and see if indeed he dose own all of the auctions and if he dose well im not sure about it as i have realy never heard of this occuring
but to earn a decent wage try advertising in trade the goods you want to sell or just offer your services from your crafting profession if you have one and just hope for tips

I dont see how someone could control the AH considering you can just undercut him and thats what most people do when they put stuff in AH.

Get a lot of gold, buy all his items. Sell them higher.

I doubt 1 person could control 2/3 of the AH, but if he does, find the market you can compete in. If he is undercutting everyone by a ridiculous amount, buy all his auctions and relist. He can either buy all of your mats again and relist for lower (which would have him losing money) or he'll leave it alone. Or you can undercut him (I hate this), but if he is holding a monopoly, he will san often and rebuy your mats anyway and put them back on at his price. If it costs you nothing but time to gather the mats (mining or skinning or the sort) you'll make a steady profit and always have a buyer (take advantage of his having to own the market).
He can't be undercutting to the point where he makes no money or even loses money, so either compete with him in just one aspect (market) and keep at it until you wear him down. If he controls enough of the market, he won't keep fighting with you over one small portion of his income. If he is a botter and farming mats somehow, I believe Blizz is winning their fight with botters and he will lose a major portion of his incoming product, putting honest hard work ahead of his lazy exploit.
