Both classes present equal amounts of versatility when it comes to PvE specs, and both classes have their challenges and prevailances when it comes to healing in PvP.
In the end, it's mostly personal preferences.

Its just a case of weather you want to be the more underdog class "pallys (ret is hated on my server still >.<)" or the ZOMG BRING FOR BUFFS (boomkin) class. Personally i'm a fan of the underdog :P

Feral powns face right now. They are also in top rated teams at the moment. It's one of the hardest specs/classes to play tho.
Druid is a harder class to play than paladin. It's up to you tho.
IMO, between my druid and paladin, I like my druid more. I just love doing more dps in heroic/rep feral gear than 25 man naxx geared warlocks in 5 mans(including boss fights). =) Not to mention, every group loves having a feral druid that has skills. Battle res, off tanking, innervate, and the occasional tranquility are very big benefits.
But, the ret pally is way more fun in BG. So it's a hit and miss type of idea. Healing as a druid can get pretty complicated as well. Especially in raid, trying to keep full HoT stacks on 3-5 tanks is a learned and practiced skill.
