Hi guys,
80 Combat spec here
, and I've got a few questions.
I've used the spreadsheet, and somehow, I'm pulling a lot less (I'd say 400 DPS is a lot) than what I should be using the full rotation. Is it my gear? Am I not timing my rotation right? Is it just because I'm a rogue in 3.0.8?
Some answers or maybe just some insights would be nice. And before you ask, no, I'm not a clicker.

The spreadsheet includes the optimal buff configuration. The DPS it gives you is an accurate estimate of what you should be pulling in a 25-man encounter, with buffs and so on.
Make sure to disable all the buffs, and then enable the one's you're sure to get.

You should be using Killing Spree, Blade Flurry and Adrenaline Rush every CD, without waiting as spreadsheet calculates, not sure, maybe a reason?

Yeah spreadsheets are good to determine if an item is an upgrade or not, but as to the actual DPS in raid fights I have yet to do 80% of the damage it predicted. Spreadsheets don't take into account movement, and all those random raid things.

Oh, right, I forgot to mention I disabled all of my buffs as well sans poisons. That help?

Well in that case it's probably your rotation.
Make sure you're using all your cooldowns when ready.

The problem with the spreadsheet is that it calculates your DPS based on the information you enter and assumes you're standing there upkeeping your rotation for the duration of the fight. To that extent, the only fight in a raid setting where your DPS will be close/equal to the Spreadsheet's estimate is Patchwerk. Anything besides him and you're suffering from movement, add DPS, etc. That will bring down your DPS.
If you want to see if your rotation is as it should be, just look at your DPS on Patchwerk (and only Patchwerk,) then compare it to the spreadsheet.

And btw its sometimes not that wise to use Killing Spree every CD, because it might place you wierd places, or wrong places. Like on thaddius you dont wanna get close to the other group.

I'm not refuting the point in trying to say Killing Spree is always safe, but there is a misconception on how the movement of Killing Spree works. Killing Spree doesn't randomly place you around the target in question, it always attempts to put you -behind- the target. It only seems like you're popping all over the place while soloing because mobs always turn to face you.
That being said, there are indeed situations where this is a bummer. Time to not use killing spree?
Against a dragon-type mob that has a tailswipe
Against a boss like Thaddius, as mentioned, where very specific positioning is required
In trash (or otherwise) situations where there is a mob using an AoE that you're meant to avoid, ie. Whirlwind. Killing Spree will remove control of your character and put you at the mercy of the mob, who probably has none =P
But for the most part, on a boss where you're regularly trying to stand behind him anyway, Killing Spree is fairly safe to use, and does come in handy now and then. (It will break you out of Malygos' Vortex!)
