hi all, im relatively new to wow, almost at the end of my 1st 30days, and i cant pick a class. ive tried a few and get to lvl 20 and generally have been creating a new1z. so ive made myself a guild added 9 of my own alts 1 each class and hav a toon with each diff tradeskill, and hav 4miners, 3skinners and 3 herbalists. that way i can do everything in house and ill never get bored of having to play the same character all day everyday.. atm im having a bit of trouble without being able 2 purchase a guild bank tab because im constantly sending mail to my other characters, but im not here 2 ask for money. just looking for general advice on how u think this will work and if u know if its been tryd b4, which i dont doubt. and if u think it will go well? all my characters are bloodelf apart from orc warrior and tauren druid and shaman.. like i said any advice or tips to help out a new player woud help heaps.. thnx

My advice? Play the way you enjoy the game. Don't let anyone else dictate how you spend your time in-game. After all, it's your money.
If you want to have a guild of your own characters that you level all simultaneously, then do it. If, after that, you get bored, then try picking the character you enjoy the best and pick what role you want it to accomplish - tank, dps, or healing.

You're missing a big part of the game I would say, which is guild chat. I'm assuming yours is just you being answered by empty air? As I've recently discovered, it's far more enjoyable as a social game.

alltho what every1 has said has a very valid point and i will take it all in2 consideration (probli keep my guild and all my characters but have another character thats not, as my main and part of another guild wher i can seek advice get help and learn about the game etc etc..), my main point kinda was probli my fault for not expaining properly, my idea about havin 1of each profession and being able to do everything in house, is this going to work for me, or just be so completely time consuming that itd take ages to get each character and ther profession to a respectable lvl? that way i should never be short of mat's correct. and an influx of greens for now(blues later) for d/e..? ive spent quite an amount of time in forums and looking thru wowhead a various things, i like to read and get advice aswel as learn on the run. as i think it all helps with the progress.. recently with my priest i discovered a combination of power word shield and inner fire is a much easier solo tactic than trying to smite every1 :P

frostweave, I kinda have the same thing going as you. I have a guild for my alts with 2-3 bank toons. My professions on my alts are not where they should be. I also miss out on a lot of rare instance crafting drops. If I could start over, I would pick a dps with two gathering skills. This would be my focus till the lvl cap, mailing the supplies and world drops to a bank alt. Next would be a toon that can heal or tank with crafting professions. for example my warrior is BS and ENG. On a side note, You should have at least one character in a good guild. Just be mindful that some guilds dont like altoholics unless you can contribute in some way.

Having a guild to yourself and using your characters to support tradeskills for other characters definitely isn't unheard of.
A friend of mine has three young children in his house - instancing and raiding isn't really an option for him, since he never knows how much time he can commit and may be called away at any moment. So instead he's spent his time leveling up alts and various tradeskills among them.
That way of playing isn't for everyone obviously, but he's perfectly happy spending his time in game this way. If you enjoy working on your tradeskills, then by all means do so. Don't let someone else tell you that you're doing it wrong, as long as you're having fun.
For me personally, it's all about the social aspect of the game. So just keep your options open. There's no need to decide your main right this minute - over time you may find you enjoy leveling one character more than another. And of course, if you're interested in raiding, reading up on what would be expected of the characters you're interested in may be a good idea.
