Necrosis or Impurity?

I've come to a quandry. My current spec allows me to tank heroics and do decent dps. The way my points lay out I can either take Necorsis or Impurity to max out.
Im just checking to see if anyone has experience with the new patch, i know necrosis was sub par beforehand and was wondering if it has equaled or overtaken impurity from a dps standpoint.
edit
to avoid confusion I both tank and dps in raid situations. I know necrosis is subpar for tanking due to runestrikes taking up standard hits, i was thinking for dps

-Note: I am unsure if I am using the correct formula. I assumed that it is a flat +20% of total AP.
This is incorrect. Impurity, like any of the caster talents which increase the benefit your spells gain from spell power, only effects the coefficient of the spell in question.
Death coil has a 25% coefficient, that means it normally gets 25% of your attack power as bonus damage. Impurity increases -that amount- by 25%, not the total, so impurity raises death coil's coefficient from 25% to 31.25%, you're only gaining 6.25% extra benefit from attack power for 5 points in impurity.
Impurity looks good, but really... the actual benefit you gain is negligible.
Now, @ necrosis - Recount shows that, in most situations, 19% of my overall damage output is from autoattacks. This results in necrosis giving me an overall damage output increase of 3.8% for 5 points, even less valuable than impurity.
IMO, dont take either one.

yea, if you're absolutely going to take one or the other, take impurity... but neither are really worth taking other than as filler talents. You'll get more benefit out of bladed armor than either of them.

Does necrosis work on rune strikes? 'cause that's another point against it for a tank...
no.

ok here is the spec I was thinking off.

the difficulty is im kinda stumped as for what to take instead of these talents. I know as a maxim i want to have unholy blight so im locked into at least 51 points in unholy. My goal is to avoid respecing and I know this will serve the job as both tank and dps depending on what is needed.
My question would be given this what would people do differently?

There is no such build that can be used as tank and dps.

For UH tanking, something more like
this
.
Mitigation and Threat are priority #1. Gargoyle and Ghoul do dps, but that goes to their threat, not the tank's. Everything else in that build contributes either to your damage (hence threat) - direct and AoE - or mitigation.
Only thing I'm not sure about is whether to put 5/5 in Impurity, or to spread those 5 points into Vicious Strikes, Outbreak, and/or Corpse Explosion (buffed in 3.0.8). Whichever combination generates the most threat, but not sure about the theorycrafting on that.
It might also be worth considering getting Two-Handed Weapon Specialization in Blood instead of 3/3 Wandering Plague. Bladed Armor + Impurity + Rage of Rivendare + Unholy Blight may be all the AoE you need, allowing you to move pts from WP to THWS.
Edit: Just noticed this part:
My goal is to avoid respecing and I know this will serve the job as both tank and dps depending on what is needed.
That's pretty much impossible as Unholy. An UH tank build gives you AoE, which you have to trade completely for single target crit if you want to dps. You can't get both in the same build.
You might be able to tank non-heroics with something like
this
, but only try it with people who know you're experimented with a hybrid dps/tank build and are cool with that (eg, bored guildies).

I disagree.

My build is there, I was brought into heroic naxxramas tonight as a DPS slot (they already had enough tanks), and I didnt change my build at all. I managed to come in 3rd for overall damage on the run, only being beaten out by a significantlybetter geared frost/unholy DK who was pure-dps specced, and a titan's grip warrior in second place, and I was within 2% of both of them for overall damage dealt by the end of the run (cleared both military and spider wing).
And that's not even counting my ghoul towards my own damage - ghoul puts out roughly 250 DPS.
