Hi
I've signed up for my first ever proper raid tomorrow night. Numbers permitting, I'm hopefully gonna get brought along to Naxx10. Now, obviously, I don't want fellow guildies to see how much of a complete nub I really am so I'm hoping you can help me out with a few pointers!
So, I'm Frostfire spec'd - 0/53/18
Firstly, let's assume there's no shadow priest present. I'm wondering about my gear. I could show up hit capped no prob wearing some ebonweave stuff etc, with basically, a unbuffed crit chance of about 26%.
Or, I could swap an item or two and gain an extra 3% crit and but loose about 3% hit. Spell power, roughly the same, Now, some people I've talked to have said, meh to hit. It's only Naxx10 and I'd probably be better of with +crit? I would have thought that hit was really important
So, do you people think being hit capped is more important than the extra crit in this? Do people bother swapping in an out of gear for trash and boss fights?
Secondly, is there any walkthrough guides I should have a look at? I've been reading on wowwiki a bit but none of it is really sinking in.
I'll have flasks and a stack of food of course, just wondering which food - the +46sp or +40crit?
And finally, and other tips? (Like don't worry about little things like gear and just listen on vent and stay alive!)
Thanks
F

well i havn't raided on my mage since level 70 but i can tell you that being a few rating under hit cap to sacrifice for about 2-3% more crit was a good decision
and the main thing for raiding is 1. ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR RAID LEADER :) they're the boss and should be treated like so
2. do your job. dont keep asking for a damage meter because if your focusing on damage you may not neccesarily be doing your job. such as heigan, being hit by the green stuff just to get a few more spells off to get higher on the damage meter is not a good thing to do
3. be mindfull of your threat. if you pull the mob off your tank its your fault that you die. and of course the more you die the more you have to spend on repairs / food buffs
4. have fun.. Thats the only reason people should play this game, if you find raiding waaay too stressful and you feel like your not having fun then maybe you shouldnt raid or you should find a guild thats less stressful to you
5. read up on boss tactics beforehand. its not a neccesity unless your raid leader tells you to but having prior knowledge about bosses before hand is a good thing i recommend the Tankspots project marmot forums to learn the boss tactics
sorry for the wall of text i hope this helps :)
