I figure many other hunters will go from BM to SV - so just wanting some tips if anyone has them. Bm rogues were a bit easier ... now we are all facing the 'stun and done' issue.
if you see him first, hit him with a freezing arrow. This procs LnL. Then fire an ES. It does DoT. If he doesn't use Cloak of Shadows, after 2 seconds, hit him with ANOTHER ES. he should be dead by the time it's DoT is up, and the pet has been hitting him. If not, he is a prime candidate for KS.
If after the 1st one he does use CoS, put pet on AGGRESSIVE, and drop a flare. Be ready with trinket in case he hits you, then hit it, and disengage. Immediately fire ES at him AGAIN. he should be close to dead by now.
If you get jumped first, trinket, disengage, ES, kill command. Then hit him with Aimed, and if you are lucky, kill shot.
I find rogues easy pickings with ES. the trick is if you get the jump on them, proc LnL.

lol yeah, that is great advice for a BM hunter but that is obviously not what we are discussing.
Personally, I think the only thing that will fix this situation is stam, resil and time. A good healer helps too :D
I agree. I read that since WoLK was released, stam and resil have increased from 70-80 by around a factor of something close to 1.8. But DPS has increased by more than a factor of 2.5. Some say close to 3. THAT explains the rapid deaths. Stam will definately help in PvP.

That is sound advice Meldiren.
I am going to be testing an even different way to deal with rogues; starting with what you recommend. FA/FT for LnL proc then wait for the cloak of shadows. Basically then I would run away a bit and wait for CoS to drop. At that point Wyvern Sting them and let it go for the full duration. By the time the WS dot kicks in your trap timer shoud be up. Drop immolation trap, serpent sting and kite. With WS, SS and Immo Trap DoTs on them they should die pretty quickly...
WS isn't a bad idea. My thought is simple, the faster you kill one, the less time there is for him to stunlock ya. :)
ES burns EVERYONE down in a hurry (warriors, pallies, boomkins). And when LnL procs, you basically get 3 ES's in a row, with no cooldown. For Maximum damage each, you should WAIT for the DoT to tick, but in a BG situation, sometimes just BLASTING them into oblivion as FAST as you can is the answer. :)

My tip works only with pets with prowl. And you have to be a Night elf.. ;)
Most off the time, I run to a battlefield, put my pet on defensive and prowl, freezing trap my position and fire away. If a rogue gets close, stealthed or not, flare. If not stealthed, mark ofc. If you get sapped, what probably won't have any effect with the freezing trap under your feet, you can pop trinket, make some distance and kill the bastard. If it all doesn't work, and he get's close to you, pop shadowmeld. If he starts attacking your pet, you know that you have to deal with a noob here and probably can take him down easily. If he vanishes, just wait till vanish wears off or reinforcements arrive (hee, you not doing bg's on your own are you?). If you need to get out off shadowmeld, by anything, get back and place a freezing trap. Start shooting till the &*!@ers dead.. the end :D
I know ppl, you have to have some supportive ppl in your team. But unless your realm lacks those, you should be good.
Shadowmeld does have it's uses :)
