Quick question regarding pets

Hi guys,
A little over a week ago I started a BM hunter with the fantastic help and advice from this forum. I'm new to the game and was only just learning my new character when this patch hit. I gather the way forward for hunters is now the SV spec which I'm going to look into this afternoon.
My question is about pet use. I am currently lvl 36 and use a Gorilla who acts as a brilliant take. When I respec to SV is the play style so different that I need to look into replacing my Gorilla for something else with different attributes? Remember I am new, so please go easy on the 'lingo'. Talk to me as you would a child!
Thank you.

To be perfectly honest, the Survival specs people are talking about are mainly just for DPS raiding builds. For leveling I would tend to think that Beast Mastery is still the way to go. Also, unless you are doing end game raiding, I still think that you should just spec yourself to whatever playstyle you enjoy the most, not necessarily the "best" DPS spec. Personally if I weren't raiding on a regular basis, I would still go heavy 51+ Beast Mastery because I enjoy that symbiosis with the pet and relying on the pet more, and exotic pets if they would do more with it and make it more worthwhile. So yeah... 8)
If after reading what I just said you still want to go with a survival build, then no not really. The pets in general retain their viability and role, but of course without the BM talents they will be less powerful.

Thanks for the replies guys.
So, all in all even with the nerf I'm still best to stick with the BM giuld which I've been following and keep my gorilla then. I'm more than happy to do that but would there be
any
advantages to re-speccing now, even for open world pvp encouters...?
