^^ correct.
If you apply corruption with trinkets up, it will (obviously) do more damage than if you apply dots without it.
The reason it won't let you repply is because the corruption you currently have on the target has more plus damages bonuses on it than the one you are trying to apply - anotherwords you're trying to replace what blizzard thinks is a superior spell.
Now the real reason I posted is to ask why on EARTH do you clip dots? It's patently stupid to do so - it lowers your dps, it lowers your dpct, its just silly. I know it can clean up your rotation, but even so - its not worth it.

Yes, you would be better of casting another Incen and letting corruption drop off for ~1s than to clip it.
Corruption runs 18s and ticks every 3s. So damage is done at:
3s,6s,9s,12s,15s,18s.
If you clip it at 17s, then corruption has done no damage for 17s-15s=2s and you reduce the overall damage of corruption by 16.6%. That 2s deadzone is almost the exaact size of another Incin for a FG/Ember build. If you cast the extra Incin you only have a .25s deadzone on corruption.

it's a bigger problem with immolate because it lets you cast the DD but doesn't refresh the DoT.
think of it as an incentive to not clip ^^

...the Abyssmal Shard.
i've been looking at failblog.org all day. this made me lol.
entendu101, you're wrong. clipping = bad.
it does not improve MC uptime. quite the opposite because it means you get less ticks in any given time frame.
what's a clean rotation? put in another SB then recast. what's so hard?

im using DoT timer which measures miliseconds before the dot is finished. Yes im probably losing an extra tick on corrup but 1) as mentioned before it mainatins clean rotation, i have enough haste to clip off the extra .03 ish sec and not become as affected by GCD; 2) better chances to keep the molten core proc up which is my #2 bost to dps.
ive spen 5-7 min on a dummy without clipping dots and same time with my style. clipping dots has lowered my DPS by 10-30ish. not that big of a deal but i have the tweaky fingers to keep this kind of rotation up for a while. DoT timer and quartz help out a lot
P.S. i havent played afflic since WOTLK release (only on patch release). Does this bug affect all the DoTs i.e. UA, SiLi?
If you insist on clipping corruption then clip it at 15.1s instead of 17.9s both skip 1/6th your corruption but at least you will "save" 2s.
