hmmm perhaps if you add a simple
function round(num)
local mult = 10^0
return math.floor(num * mult + 0.5) / mult
end
then you could change this line
Recount:AddHealData(srcName, dstName, "Power Word: Shield", "Hit", amount*(2/3)*5,0, srcGUID,srcFlags,dstGUID,dstFlags,10900)
to
Recount:AddHealData(srcName, dstName, "Power Word: Shield", "Hit", round(amount*(2/3))*5,0, srcGUID,srcFlags,dstGUID,dstFlags,10900)
and you would get some more even numbers....

I still haven't seen any comments of someone actually using this modded Recount and what the rest of their raid members had to say about the numbers.
Has anyone here actually used this by now? Care to share your thoughts?

Reread the thread.
Still, no one mentioned anything about positive or negative reactions from other members of their raid.
Hopefully, my guild won't be so stupid as to actually use the damage meters to measure a healer's worth, but it never hurts to show what you can do when questioned.
And you know what, I think this entire situation could be fixed by simply creating a "Damage Prevented" tab on Recount to track that independently as opposed to a healing hack.

The problem is that there isn't an easy way to track damage absorbed. Hence why they are trying to figure out workarounds.
I havne't actually used the mod yet. But any time someone confronts me about healing, I explain to them the mechanics of disc real fast, give them the numbers of my PW:S glyph and crit rates, and give an estimate of how much healing I did that wasn't on the charts.
Usually, their responce is "wow, thats badass." or "nice that puts you right up with the rest of the healers" or "lol you wtf pwned the other guys if thats true".
Most of the people, as long as you explain it appropriately, should accept it for what its worth. Just make sure you explain that situation instead of just spam them and expect people to believe a modded meter.

Well, while it might be almost as difficult as a Paly has it, there's probably no better way to prove your worth than doing a good old fashioned 5-man as the only healer.
Keeping the group alive should be enough for them to have some faith in the spec. Heck, most people didn't even know I was Discipline till I said so. That's usually putting in a good word.
Sadly, you can't heal incompetence or dispel ignorance.
For now, to anyone who disbelieves the Discipline priest as viable healer is gonna go with me to the next 5-man I can bring them to.

Here is the recount from this nights KT clear (1shot'd)
http://i39.tinypic.com/kcdn4n.jpg
First set is someone else's recount (no shields)
2nd set is recount including shields as effective.
Shields cast on Tanks and targets who were iceblocked.
--------------------------
On the topic of what other ppl think of the numbers...
Other guildies cannot see my shield amounts (even if they have the modded recount). Just the same, I cant see how much other priest's shields are doing, even if they have the glyph. So the numbers that recount gives is pretty much entirely for my own use. I dont care much for chart topping, so I dont feel a need to spam the raid with the recount numbers.
The only time I'll show the recount numbers to raid/guild is if someone is poking fun at Disc not being able to "heal" or making jabs at Disc being a bad spec.
The main issue most people bring up on various forums is about the shields being counted as effective versus non-effective (not used).
But like I said...no one else is seeing it, it's purley for your own viewing so what does it matter?
YOU know exactly WHO (high risk target vs low risk) you are shielding and WHEN and whether or not a majority of your shields are being used.
Take a fight like maly for instance...Where you cast ~4 shields on peopel before Vortex. Its reasonable safe to assume that the shields were used up.
There's really no reason to put shields on people who arent going to use it. With this and the debate on effective shield/noneffective shield in mind....
Take phase 2 of maly into consideration.
Running from one magic shield to another is risky business, especially if the scions hit a healer or other squishy twice in a row resulting in a death.
The appropriate move is to precast PW:S on them as insurance against this.
Even if the healer was NOT hit (does not use shield), it WAS in place just in case...would it not be reasonable to consider this shield as effective?
To me...it is effectvie in every sense of the word...It did its job of reducing the probability of death.
What about the DPS who is being hit by AoE or pulled agro and is an inch's breath away from death (~1k left)? If you threw a PW:S on them and only half of it was used. The shield as a whole still did it's job. However, what if the tank picked up agro just at the moment you shielded and NONE of the shield was used. Technically, this would be zero effectiveness. However, the shield itself is still doing its job of preventing death.
My fellow healers and others who have a high probability of being one/two shotted recognize and respect Disc's abilities and bubbles, quite simply because... quote- "They keep me alive".
Obviously, there is an extent this can be applied...Shielding a random caster/healer way in the back who hasnt been touched once and most likely wont...shouldnt be counted as effective.
Good Disc priest come to understand who and when to shield.
Any priest who shields low risk targets intentially just to inflate their numbers is not only a bad Disc priest, but is most likely too concerned with artifical numbers to really be doing his/her job well.

as stated earlier in the thread you must have the glyph of power word shield... and if you are not speced 3/3 divine aegis the results willl be inaccurate.. for this to work "semi" accurately you need the glyph and 3/3 divine aegis.. this mod is very crude and uses the 20% glyph data to calculate the total value of your shield.. so none of it is ever "over heal" where as logically any part of the total shield value that does not absorb damage is in essence "over heal" the combat log shows the damage that is absorbed.. for each player but i believe only on that players screen. i have not researched far enough into recount as to weather or not the whole log is scanned for each player or only the local one. as if we were to have recount talk to all of the recounts in the group you could obtain the data needed to calculate the total amount of damage that was absorbed and just add that to a tab in recount that should "damage mitigated" for example, and perhaps a configuration setting that allows you to convert the total absorbed damage to +heals and the remaining portion of the unused shield as over heals... but to obtain this recount needs to be provided the data of any targets affected by your shields.. i will look into the raw data that can be collected from each local player in wows combat log and look into writing an algorithm to detect the absorbed amount and unused amounts on each of the targets. when and if i get something working i will communicate it to the authors of recound to see if i can get it officially added into a new release..
wish me luck :)

doesn't this assume shield and aegis are not overheals?
shield has 4 sec cooldown... i could just rotate shielding ppl in raid to raise "healing done".

You could, if you were a meter monkey.
The mod is for good players looking for a way to quantify the 'healing' their sheilds do. Not to rig the epeenstroking contest that meters usually instill.

then let me put it another way... if i shield the wrong ppl cuz i'm a total noob, or maybe because i think they will have more incoming damage even though they wont, or for whatever reason i cast shield on someone and it doesnt go on to absorb anything.
my point is, it's inaccurate. regardless of whether i'm intentionally or unintentionally misusing shield.

Biggest problem that I have with this is that just because you use PW:S doesn't mean that it all gets absorbed, assuming you are casting it on more than the tank.
For a Recount version to be accurate, it would have to quantify absorbed damage. Until then, this simply isn't accurate.

Yes, this is an accurate statement.
There was some discussion above from the Recount author about incorporating a more accurate method into the base addon. Here's to hoping....

I got both. The problem is the amount "healed" by the PW: Shield doesn't show up. Only the amount healed by the Glyph PW:Shield. Do I have to activate something in the mod?
Do you actually have the addon installed correctly?
You are able to tell whether or not it is based on if Divine Aegis shows up or not.
