Have we abandoned the Light?

Looking through the models for the WotLK armor pieces, I keep seeing the same 3 or 4 visual designs. What bothers me about this (other than the lack of creativity) is that they all represent a very dark, harsh, realistic aesthetic.
While I know the landscape of Northrend is a barren, harsh one, as a Paladin the armor makes no sense. From a lore stand-point, Paladins are supposed to be the bearers of the light in dark places. They bring hope to their allies, and fear to their enemies. However the armor of Northrend does not evoke the Light, or hope in any way. Its just dark, and foreboding.
Any thoughts?

You're taking armor off of the denizens of Northrend, it should look like something they would wear.
Hopefully the pvp armor will be the "light engraved" armor you paladins are looking for :D

It's not.

Hit view in 3D. It is bland and dark. Most if not all of the PvP armor is like this. It's just dim and cold. It matches the area, but I liked how in BC things were shiny and exciting. With animations are such.
If you look at the DK PvP armor, the stuff you get by the time you leave Acherus looks cooler...kinda disappointing.

well the only other thing i can think sure will be light is tier 8 for paladins... There are some beta(maybe alpha) videos of them showing most classes tier 8 and it looks paladin fit. Thought it could be changed.

I saw a youtube video of some T8 sets...they look just like the artwork in the CE WotLK Artbook. The one everyone says is Paladin T8, was reported as Priest in the vid...though who really knows at this point.

I want to see Paladins in white and gold, gosh darn it! Give me class-specific color-schemes!
Paladins are running around looking like they raided the closets of their friendly neighborhood death knight!
QFT!
Just the other day one of my guildies was mentioning how I look more like a DK than his DK does! True, there is something badass in the fallen/corrupted/evil paladins, but I want to be the lightbulb in the raids. I want to be a beacon of light even without a healadin around.
/me cries in contemplation of Tier2. Why, oh why won't Blizzard bring it back?

I've got one thing to say to this.
No.
Northrend is supposed to be all kinds of brutal, so the gear dropped from those brutal enough to face it should be brutal. Cuz man, being brutal is totally brutal. Also, metal. No real hero gets all bright and shiny because being bright in shiny in a dark place often means you end up a pincushion from bad guy arrows (thus, means you were a rather dumb hero).... either that or you're a totally insincere liar and braggard, and don't really go on adventures of that caliber. (example: Gilderoy Lockhart, from the Harry Potter series).
The only place bright colors would make sense would be in the open tundra on the snowy surface... I'm pretty sure if you wandered into say Nexus or UK in bright shiny colors it should increase the aggro monsters have on you there by 5 yards or more.
Anyways, Light is evil.
~yay opinions~ =)

Eh? Practical stuff in WoW? Can't help but to bring plate thongs in.
Not to mention that some of gear is crafted in Dalaran - it would make sense for them to craft something that manifests the Light. Or at least something purple...
