as far as PvE goes I've always liked being a draenei... since 3.0 and the removal of racials however we aren't as good as we used to be because we were the only spriests (besides dwarves) that had symbol of hope which helped others with their mana regen and we also had the extra 1% chance to hit mobs so at the time we only needed 5% spell hit. Now I'd say for alliance it's still good to be a draenei simply because they have the extra spell hit (Gift of the naaru is also very nice because it stacks with spell dmg and is a free HoT if your oom so you can still do something besides look pretty) but for PvP I'd say dwarves because of stoneskin.

I would have to say for horde, Blood Elf or Troll imo...
Troll you have beserker, which is an increase in cast speed, and more dmg, as if shadow doesnt already do enough lol
Blood Elf, you have a silence as a racial, that added with the talent, means you have 2 silences, OP, and mana tap is very nice, now if you're oom as shadow, you can do dispersion, get quite a bit, then mana tap, and be back at full, also OP
Undead, is still good tho, due to their Spirit racial, and WoF....nuff said, lol....but the reason Undead shadow priests used to be awesome, was because they used to be the only ones with Devouring Plague...now that all priests get it, kinda knocks undead out of the, " Best shadow priest " category.
so in conclusion, if you plan to go Shadow, for horde, go Blood Elf.
I would say for Alliance, Human or Dwarf...
Human you have Everyman for himself, although not too great due to the fact that it shares its cooldown with the insignia of the alliance, but still nice none-the-less....and the spirit racial, is good, perception, although not as good as it used to be, still proves very useful...and last but not least, diplomacy, which is awesome too.
Dwarves have stoneskin, so your survivability would be alot better...
All together i'd say for alliance, go human.
Now when looking at Blood Elf vs Human....you have to consider this....
Blood Elf....2 silences...mana tap
Human....2nd get out of trouble button, xtra spirit, ability to see a stealthy before they get to you, and diplomacy....
if it were me, id go blood elf, but, i just like horde alot better so, and 2 silences is just awesome....

This is a spec I came up with for 80.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bV0bZZbxfiRfkfiqfdAo
I put 5 in Twin Disciplines, due to the fact that Shadow Word: Death is an instant dmg spell, and having an xtra 5% dmg to it is pretty awesome, also, to make your Death even stronger, I would get Glyph of Shadow Word: Death, which if a target is under 35% health, your Death deals 10% more dmg :)
I placed 2 points in Improved Power Word: Fortitude, due to the xtra health is always nice...
2 points I think you should look at are the 2 I put in Spirit Tap, I would move to Inner Fire, do to when past 70 you get the spell power buff from Inner Fire so, just adds more dmg lol...
Oh yeah, also forgot, Glyph of Shadow Word: Pain, would be a good idea as well, due to when you use Mind Flay on a target that has Shadow Word: Pain on them, it deals 10% more dmg or something like that, which is, MORE DMG! lol
also, with pain and suffering, guess what that means, your Mind Flay will ALWAYS refresh Pain, so your going to get a permanent plus to your Minf Flay dmg pretty much :P
basic idea of this spec with these glyphs, is max dmg...and there are a few talents i put in that will help with threat reduction and plus to hit and crit, so this spec would be good for PVP or PVE situations.
I put in Invieluped shaows or wtv its called....itll make your shadowfiends CD lower, as well as fade, and i put pints in improved fade or wtv, sorry just too lazy to look back at the names, :S....which will everytime u sue fade, it is an insignia type thing, so if you do go be, 2 silences, and 2 get out of trouble buttons :P

I suppose u could go undead and have fade, wof, and insignia, which is 3 ways to get out of fear, or 2 ways to get out of stuns....hmmmm

ah...ok, PVE....
yes dranaei will be more benifical for shadow in a pve situation, do to their xtra spell hit, and as a shadow priests in raids ur gonna want as much + to hit as possible...u wont be much help if u cant hit the mobs lol...
as for horde...troll i do agree would be better for pve, due to their beserking...
i have a decent pve spec i think would be nice...ill post it after this...
and mybad thought u were looking for pvp spec and races :S

Well Seneca, I gotta say I didn't agree with your Disc spec, but I like your Shadow spec alot, so I kept everything the same lol

Props Seneca...if I go Shadow at 80, I'll be using your spec lol
...well, if i go the raiding route lol
sigh....problem is my Guild is already low on healers, so I may have to stay healzor, but that discussion will be saved for Ty's next thread :P

ya well is why i changed the spec back to senecas original, i like his shadow spec...and as shadow...well atleast from my experiences, u grab a crapload of aggro lol sp shadow affinity is a GOOD thing.....thats why in the original message i said, screw my spec and go with senecas, if i roll shadow endgame imma use his spec.

Shadow infinity is completely useless, so points in that would be stupid.
Also, I don't really understand why people would want to increase the range of their shadow spells. Mind flay slows the enemy, and keeps them within your range usually which is useful for npc human enemies that flee in fear and can potentially aggro new mobs. If you keep the distance your mindflay reaches short, you can keep the distance those stupid ass humans flee when they run away in fear. Also, if you're afraid of aggroing surrounding enemiesm you can always use mindsoothe or shackle undead.
All right, well, I'm not 80 yet, but this is the spec I intend to do when I hit 80

Not much use in improved shadowform. Most PvE battles won't even burst your bubble, so you won't really suffer much pushback, and you don't really need to fix movement impairing problems unless you run from mobs like a pansy, so it seems pretty useless.
Also, no inner focus 'cos I know I'd never remember to use it.
