Also, pst is not an acronym (it's onomatopoeia if anything); I do like it. Better than saying "whisper me".
pst = please send tell. That of course would be an acronym.
Really? I always thought "pst" was supposed to be the sound effect that /w makes, a kind of "Psst! Over here buddy!" kind of thing. I guess I learned something today.
That's what I always thought until my guild set me straight.

On another note, I have noticed a gross overuse of 'lol'. I find it perfectly acceptable in specific situations that may cause one to literally laugh out loud, but not in the 'end every sentence with it' sort of way I see overwhelmingly present in my chat window. It has almost become a replacement for the period.
Example:
Person 1: I just got a blue drop from this mob in Dragonblight lol
Person 2: kool lol
Person 3: I've killed hundreds and only rarely found green items lol
Person 4: lol
None of the above is actually funny, and certainly not worth laughing about.
Yeah, that annoys me to no end, and I really can't understand why people use "lol" like that. There are several people that I talk to in-game that seem to be litterally unable to form a sentence without putting those three letters in it somewhere. It really does make me wish I could kill my own team sometimes.

You made a lot of good points and have certainly have explained the roots for many jargons.
wc is shortened for water closet in many real life situations, and you can see many uses of wc for public toilets. so I don't think its from another mmorpg

PST is an awesome acronym, since it conveys its meaning quickly and clearly. It's even onomatopoetic.

The term that annoys me is dps.
"I'm a dps"... no you aren't. You are a DD (damage dealer), not damage per second.
The number of times I've used DD and been ridiculed for using a term that actually makes sense is appauling.
General 'shortenings' of words that don't need it are an irritation too, especially 'y'. Can never tell if they are agreeing or questioning with their response - type the whole word, avoid all confusion.
Edit: I think WC comes from the french. I know it was the first time I heard that term to refer to a toilet.

Twinking, or to twink, in WoW terms, means when someone reaches a certain level (normally at 29, 39, 49, 69, and 79), locks their XP, gains the best gear they can at that level, and do battleground and raids strictly at that level.

What, exactly, is the meaning of the word 'twink'? A cheater, faker or a leader of men extraordinaire? Of this I am not sure! Yet hope arises for a quantum leap forward in my ever expanding self knowledge's search for enlightenment. Therefore, I once again put the query to you for the answer to the issue at hand. What does the word 'twink' truly mean? Peace!
Also, be mindful of where and in front of whom you use the word twink, because to people who don't play MMO's or tabletop RPG's, it means a younger, slim gay man with little body hair, often used in gay porn or as a pejorative by their polar opposite in the gay community, the bear.

So much this. When I got started, I had no clue what some of the jargon was, so I would look it up on the internet since I was too embarrassed to admit I had no idea what it was. Boy, did I get a horrible, mind-searing shock when someone mentioned they needed help running their twink through Deadmines....
