Direbrew Hops and Essence of the Martyr CD: FAD or bug?

Dont' pass this on to Blizzard, just in case!
So I picked up the
Direbrew Hops
off Coren Direbrew over the weekend.
I found that despite being a twin of
Essence of the Martyr
, they don't share a cooldown. I noticed a few folks commenting about this on the item.
Does anyone know for certain if this is intentional or a bug? If it's FAD, then this is an amazing combination; in an emergency this allows a healer to pop both trinkets and gain an additional 794 +healing for a few moments.

I would assume it's just an oversight on their part, since the
Dark Iron Smoking Pipe
shares a cooldown with... everything.
On the other hand,
Coren's Lucky Coin
doesn't share a cooldown with anything and neither of the 45 stamina charms shares a cooldown with the
Commander's Badge
, off of which they are based (though they do share cooldowns with each other and... dragonlings?).
Any way you look at it, enjoy it while you can but don't be surprised if it gets changed eventually. Hopefully not before WotLK.

DPS trinkets don't stack because of "3 minute mages" back in 1.10ish.
Healing trinkets however don't share cooldowns (unless it explicitly says so), because healing won't kill anyone fast.

Coren's Lucky Coin also doesn't share a cooldown with its direct counterpart:
Gnomeregan Auto-Blocker 600
. Apparently it makes for interesting prot PvP.
More than that... both Shield Slam and the new Shield of Righteousness have their base damage increased by block value. In the latter case, I know that it adds 240% of your block value in additional damage. Despite it causing a high amount of threat, I'll be playing around with the combo of these trinkets on my Paladin as Ret to see what sort of damage I can get by popping both at once.

Bloodlust Brooch
=
Empty Mug of Direbrew
and they do not share a CD... they can be chained... so the DPS trinket theory you have doesnt realy apply.

Sadly it is no longer 240%, it was nerfed to 100% BV plus a flat damage component.

Drat. Oh well, that'll still be a fairly effective combo for generating threat, but it does reduce the likelihood of "Slamadins", hehe.

By 794, did you actually mean 594?

Actually, his theory is correct. If anyone remembers, back in the days of ZG, Blizzard added this in because players were stacking ZHC with another trinket (can't remember the name). Since then, all caster DPS trinkets have triggered cooldowns just long enough until the trinket's effect wears off.

Well, has anyone confirmed these trinkets' shared cooldown?
Bloodlust Brooch
shares active cooldown with most popular BC trinkets, like
Abacus of Violent Odds
and
Bladefist's Breadth
. In my opinion it seems to be something overlooked. However, it might just be to help out leveling in WotLK, as these trinkets are really good to stack for sustained DPS while using the 20 second burst on harder mobs.
Edit
I just noticed that what x0reaper0x said is only indirectly correct. He confuses the term shared cooldown, as the melee trinkets do in fact share an active cooldown. The can't be used simultaneously.

if you notice i did say
CHAINED
and not
SIMULTANEOUS
... there is a difference ;)

Yeah, that too. '0.o
Or 762, if you calculate in the constant 84 increase from both trinkets. Which I didn't. I just completely typoed it. :P

Just to clarify, you said they did not share a cooldown. Not being able to use the simultaneously means that they do share a cooldown. There's no real advantage in chaining two trinkets.

Well, not exactly. Having two linked trinkets with the effect "Increases Spellpower by 155 for 15 seconds", but that have a chained cooldown, would give you a period of half a minute where your spellpower is increased by 155. Still nothing to sneeze at.

i have both... i actually dont use both... iknow they can be chained though never tried to use both at the same time. Ill test it tonight.
But as far as no advantage to chaining... Rapid Fire + Bloodlust Brooch then followed up with Haste Pot + Empty Direbrew Mug begs to differ...

Well, what I mean with "no real advantage" is that there is really no extra benefit from chaining two trinkets than there would be from just having one of them. The point of using two trinkets simultaneously is to stack the effects, so that you'd e.g. do more burst damage over the 15 seconds. Basically more damage faster. It's a bit hard to explain in a way that everyone would understand.
The simplest way I can put it is:
If two trinkets can't be used simultaneously, they will not benefit eachother. They will just be their very own effective boost, and it wouldn't matter on one trinket's effective boost if you swapped the other trinket. (Referring to the "Use" effects only).
