Every time I duel a hunter, I always hate it. I tend to avoid them now. Do you have any tips as to how to level the playing field against them and their pet?

Fun thing to do if they're Beastmaster is when the Beastial Wrath // Beast Within - is to just Vanish and chillax.
They'll claim it's cheap but only an idiot would tank that =\.

Keep them crippled the whole time. If you don't have shadowstep and they get range, you lose, it's that simple. Use evasion when up close and if they use bestial wrath, vanish and wait. Avoiding traps is easy, but he might scatter-trap. Save your trinket for this.
If they start a duel while sitting on a trap, come from behind, sap and disarm the trap. If they are sitting on a flare, you need dirty tricks for this to work.

This.
Against a Beast hunter, vanish when it hits Beast Mode and wait for it to wear off. Once that's done, just treat it like a Marksman hunter: sit right on him and keep Crippling up. He won't get away unless he drops a trap, but you can just hit Cloak the instant you see it on the ground and resist the effect.
Good luck!

Note - OP might not be lvl 66.

Then, before he hits 70, I guess he'll avoid them. Class balance is based on 70. So, hints to beat classes are based on lvl 70 opponents.
