Question on Cat DPS and Attack Power

I've worked hard on my DPS gear and currently have 2950 Attack Power with a Crit rate that is almost 40% and a HR of 124.
I use the optimal rotation of shed to 4 combo point and then rip. I try to keep mangle up at all times.
Still I find that I do not as much dps as a enh shaman with considerately less AP.
So what's the deal. Is AP much less important that I thought? How does it influence how much DPS you can crank out.
How much dps should I be expecting from these stats?

reason is this:
shammy has good weapons that his ap modifies
we have crap weapons (paw) that hit for low damage and need lots of ap to boost (keeps non ferals from doing much feral dpsing)

all feral druid dps comes solely from AP. increasing your AP by 10% is as good as increasing your total damage by 10%. mangles, shreds, rips, fero bites, they use coefficients that are based off our total AP. for example, 4-CP rip does a set amount of damage along with 24% of our current AP as damage, so for your rip to do maximum damage per tick, its best used after a trinket use/proc, when a shaman gives you unleashed rage, etc. anything that boosts your AP.
from your stats i would say you could push 800 DPS in a 5 man, and about 1100-1200 dps with an enhancement shaman in a raid setting (if he gives you grace of air).
to maximize your dps in a raid setting the most ideal group makeup would be:
1 enhancement shaman dropping grace of air and str of earth
1 BM hunter for +3% damage
1 MM hunter with trueshot aura
1 fury warr for battle shout
it rarely ever happens though so don't get your hopes up. often times im with 2 rogues, a fury warr, and a resto shaman dropping wf totem.
along with a survival hunter for the armor penetration and ret pally for +3% crit somewhere else in the raid.
also you should be able to do an additional 100-200 dps on a mob that's being tanked by a feral druid because hes applying mangle for you.
problem with current feral DPS is it doesn't scale as well as classes like rogues and warlocks.
if you're looking to dps as a druid, i suggest going balance. cat dps doesn't cut it at the t6/swp level

I think 800 dps and 1100-1200 dps in raid is a little high for those stats tbh. Maybe if the AP was ~4000 (or more) that would be achievable.
Agreed. This is ok on stats, and not something to shake a fist at, but you will only be doing 550-650 at most dps. Maybe a fully buffed group for your dps can get you up to 800 dps. TBH, and I'm not saying you are really lacking, but this is less than pvp geared. I played with a feral druid who still had some s1 and he was at 3.2k ap in pvp gear. If I can purely dps on a tanked target, I can squeak out about 380-390 dps. 550 dps max on good ooc procs and crit strings for short periods of time.
