I'm still a bit confused about gearing as a protection paladin in the expansion. Crushing blows have been eliminated, so we no longer need to hit the once-important 102.4% avoidance, but we
do
need to hit 490 defense (or higher, after the expansion comes out? What is the defense cap in WOTLK?). Of course, more avoidance will never be a bad thing, because it reduces how much damage we are going to take, but does that mean that it'd be better/more efficient to stack stamina after we've hit the defense cap, or should we still focus more on avoidance? Also, where does strength fit into this? Do our abilities scale better with AP or with SP, or is it "equal"?
Another thing: weapon speed, still relevant? I've been hearing slow is the way to go. And should we be using a "tanking stats" sword, a spell-damage sword, or carry around one of each?
The thing is that ou abilities scale with AP and SP not Str directly, Str give 2 AP and therefor 1 point of Str is the best threat. With CB's now not on boss mobs we will, I think, still go for avoidence because it is what we are good at and our talents synagise for and also because Druids are quite firmly 'the stamina tank'.
I don't theorycraft so the wep speed question is lost on me, try looking at maintankadin, sorry =Z.
On the topic of mana regen: Prot and Ret have it down. BoS allows me to regen mana at a monsterous rate and JotW is currently good enough that ret can keep going *almost* forever. Holy has some Issues though.
Dvine Plea, in it's current form, Causes the paladin to gain 25% of his mana over 10 seconds with a mear 1 minute cooldown. No channling either, cast and forget. The downside is that while this is active all healing done by the paladin is halved so many holy paladins hate it. they think it should have dmg output because ret and prot already have other means of regeneration. (you got it right brownjohn)
is it true shield of imbaness have been nerfed to 100% (130% with talents) BV as damage :(?
Not as far as I know, This spell is still 240% acording to MMO-Champions listings but I still don't have it!

I believe they changed that spell so that it is no longer channeled, but instead, it cuts your healing output in half.
This is true, a nice buff I think.
