How about if those WWI cards should be distributed by lottery hosted by wowhead?
Popped up in my mind, how it sounds? I kinda think it would be fair way, but you would have be kinda lucky, but hey, you wouldn't need require any special skills. Alike if there would be some kind drawing contest etc, wouldn't be fun, that you would need have skills to win.
Edit: gah i think i wrote this to wrong topic area, but meh.

It wont happen. You cant make a lottery just for the sake of it, unless you want the government to promptly &*!@ up your ass.

To be honest I'm rather interested tho in seeing what the Saturday and Sunday's images would have been. While I was interested in the reward I was finding it a fun challenge to see how well I could put these things together. Kinda as a personal goal I at least wanted to find them all even if my times were bad. when I got hung up.

honestly the issue with the screenshot contest was that the images were so esoteric that it drove people away from using legitimate means to solve the contest. By this I mean that the legitimate way of solving for some of the images was to sift through hundreds of items, some of which with extremely similar images, to get one of the answers.
Some people wouldn't mind that, but a good portion of people will start thinking "there's got to be an easier way to do this" which of course leads them into solving it in another manner.
In short, the issue with the contest was it was too menial. It didn't require any sort of competition, it was just who could sift through the largest amount of meaningless screenshots in the shortest period of time, and of course the computer always wins in situations like that.
A better contest would have been creating some riddles, or clues, and then letting people solve them and send in the answers. That way there isn't any programmatic solution, you have to either think, or get the answers from someone who figured it out. You'll never completely get rid of cheating, but you can design the contests in such a way where it isn't so vulnerable to it.
edit:
You could even take a page out of wowwiki.com and use a scavanger hunt kind of deal where you give one clue which leads to a page (the correct one having an image or some marking on it), which in turn leads you to another one etc. This wouldn't be prone to the same kind of exploitation as the screenshot contest because the images wouldn't exist on the pages until the contest starts, and by the time you managed to wget the entire updated contents of wowhead, you'd either be caught or the contest would be over.
