Ok, say your autoattack hits for 1000 damage. Your combat log with 5/5 necrosis will look like this:
"You hit (mob) for 1000 physical."
"Your Necrosis hits (mob) for 250 shadow."
Get it?

as it stands at the moment, necrosis is an extremely powerful raid dps buff suitable for use with 2 one handers, but its use will be alot more limited with 2H weps, where a far smaller percentage of your stikes will be auto's.

Necrosis is a 25% autoattack DPS increase, regardless of weapon speed.
If you do 1000 damage with an autoattack, and have a 4.0 swing time, necrosis will do 250 damage every 4 seconds, or 62.5 DPS
If you do 500 damage with an autoattack, and have a 2.0 swing time, necrosis will do 125 damage every 2 seconds, or 62.5 DPS
Necrosis is one of those talents that favors dual wielding, however - since dual wield's autoattack damage scales better than 2h's.

yes, i know the relation between 2h's and DW =P
The hit penalty puts dual wield behind early on, but once a dual wielder gets closer to the hit cap he starts scaling better. Dual wielders gain 50% more benefit from attack power than someone using a 2hander will, because the AP applies to both weapons (offhand does 50% less damage). That means that DW scales better after the hit penalty has been overcome.
I still wish we werent even able to dual wield as death knights, because chances are it will become favorable for raid DPS at 80 once you get the appropriate gear.

Am I wrong in the assumption that haste will be a bigger benefit to 2H vs. 1H?
seems counter-intuitive if that's not the case, but wouldn't surprise me really.

While I 100% agree with this, It wasn't what I meant.
Your typical dual weilder swings a lot more often than your typical 2H weapon wielder, but the number of special attacks you can make are still similar. Anotherwords a higher percentage of attacks will be white noise, and recieve necrosis' benefit. I may not have been clear enough on that initailly

... 1 point of damage per hit...
1 damage per hit applies to training dummies, try it out on mobs and you will get a true reflection if the damage.
