Haste+Arcane Blast = OOM
If you're gonna stack haste, go frost or fire.

Recall that in Wrath, the buff adds damage, rather than decreases casting time (both?).
Either way, I'd take the uber-stam. I'm not even sure why the comparison was made between the two items. :o

I'd say in most case, stacking haste is bad for Arcane in it's current form. But you can get away with a tiny bit of haste of your gear.
Also, there's no comparison between the 2 trinkets, Fetish is clearly the superior one.

Keep in mind, the math that says haste > spell damage in this situation deals with average damage over time, but the reality it, damage comes in the form of discrete casts. For example, spell haste only really "counts" when it allows you to get off another spell that you wouldn't ordinarily have been able to. So, 17 haste on anything less then ~100 casts isn't really gaining you anything, even though on paper it's a theoretical 1.08% damage increase.
Haste needs to be stacked to have any meaningful DPS and DPM implications.
This is the conventional wisdom, but I would like to discuss this a bit. WoWwiki says that blizzard rounds the calculation to 4 significant digits so every point of spell haste reduces the casting time by a tiny amount. There are other reasons that you might get very real benefit in a boss fight from small reductions in casting time. Consider this situation. You are a fire mage and you are forced to move just as you would renew your scorch debuff on the boss. You move and scorch and the casting time reduction causes the scorch to hit in time and retain the debuff.
At this point, my spell damage is below the level where conventional wisdom says stacking spell haste makes sense. But I had exactly the described experience in a boss fight with 53 (3.376%) spell haste allowing me to maintain my rotation. Now I'm wondering if the casting time reduction might make be worth it because of intangibles that are hard to reflect in theory crafting and how to factor that in.
