People have done testing with this and it results to less DPS then if you were to use Rip, according to them... even with this buff.
This is true. However, the models and tested combat cycles are getting better, and it currently seems that in higher end raiding, where we can pretty much assume that Kitties will have 10k AP and enough Crit, it actually becomes better to have SR in the rotation. We need more time to hone the models to optimally utilize the attack before "final" conclusions can be made. However, I feel quite confident to say that it won't be worth it when you get it the first time (lvl 75). On the other hand, I wouldn't mind being wrong about that. :)
You can test it out for yourselves at

After a night's sleep, I think it is actually desired game design that SR doesn't yield increased DPS until later in the game. The effective DPS rotation is already getting more complex, so they are leaving some of the complexity out of that level. Later, when a player is expected to have the skills, they can expect the Kitties to use more complex attack patterns. This is of course speculation.

I am exicted that we have now a finishing move to use those CP we have on a near dead target.

well imo this will be used more during bosses/long encounters
explanation:
this ability effectively lasts 21 seconds with 5 combo points, so that means on a boss do Mangle>shred>shred> if u have 5 use SR now, then do mangle(if u have to)>shred>shred>rip until ur SR is wearing off then do it again, at least thats how i see this working and especially when we hit that sexy 10k AP, im already at 4k :D
Edit 1 typos
Edit 2:
now my only question is.. with the FB buff is it going to be used at all? maybe as a final attack on a mob with low health to increase your dps but i already do that so is it going to be used in any other way?

Rip is your primary damage source among the finishers (at least currently). It's just dealing such insane amounts of damage that cycles will be built around keeping it active as much as possible. This according to current models, of course. So the number of combo points you get on SR is dependent on how much time you have extra over keeping Rip ticking. With the Rip glyph, the base cycle time is 16s. Keeping constant Rip ticking should be pretty easy even with low Crit%. With Mangle buff lasting 18s with the Mangle glyph, you need only one (after Rip) all your extra energy will go into Shreds and the Savage Roar, if you can spare the time. The higher the crit, the more time you will have, obviously.

In its current form and according to the models, it's not good enough for raid DPS. It is probably a good finisher for PvP, because of the highly likely crit.
