So I'm level 10, should I get the level 10 pet or stick with the imp? Because I'm such a noob, could someone please post if I should get a new pet whenever I can and what levels I can get them and what where from? I'm using the basic build,
(Which is all stats into the first column until level 50) And yea,
Thank you very much :)

level 10 is the voidwalker, as I recall. Get it from a guy with a quest near your warlock trainer in any major city (there's always a questline).
I said use the VW for so long because personally, I use him as a mana battery. Once you get dark pact (31 point talent) you should turn off all his autocast abilities and just suck his mana dry. You can sick him on random mobs meleeing if you want, there's no need to taunt as long as you don't do damage to it.
The advantage to that is you have sacrifice (kills VW for a bubble) available at any time. Very helpful when getting ganked and if you get into a pinch with mobs.
I usually pull 3-4 mobs at a time with siphon life spam, fear, VW tank, instant howl of terror, and drain life used in varying amounts. Mostly I am limited by mob's leashes (they evade so easy! sometimes right when they come out of fear after being gay and running straight away.) or the first mob dying.

So much misinformation in this thread. Using the voidwalker past the early thirties is a bad idea while leveling if you are trying to be efficient.
You'll begin using your Voidwalker once you've completed his quest chain (but don't be in too much of a rush - the imp is fine for the lower teens). At this point your pattern will move to sending the voidwalker in, dotting up the mob, and wanding it to death. As your level increases, you'll send the voidwalker in, dot up the mob, turn to the next mob, dot it, fear it, and wand it to death. With practice you'll be able to do several of these in a row before having to stop.
At level 20 you can do the quest to gain your succubus. She isn't much use until level 30. At 30, if you've followed the build order in the drain tanking sticky, you can begin drain tanking single mobs. Turn off your succubus' abilities and let her beat on mobs while you dot them up and drain them to death. You'll rarely have to rest.
At level 30 you can do the felhunter quest. This is a PvP pet for the most part, so there is little urgency to the quest chain... but you'll want to do it eventually.
At level 40 you'll begin using the imp again, as you've picked up the Dark Pact talent. Downtime is now non-existant as you have a constant supply of mana due to the imp's high mana regeneration. When you gain Instant Howl of Terror, you can follow the multi-mob version of drain tanking described in the drain tanking sticky.

To address a couple of specific claims:
get the voidwalker pet (the big blue one) and use it to 80.
Bad idea. As has been shown repeatedly in this forum, the voidwalker is inferior for leveling once you get to level thirty. Drain tanking does more damage and has less downtime.
I said use the VW for so long because personally, I use him as a mana battery. Once you get dark pact (31 point talent) you should turn off all his autocast abilities and just suck his mana dry.

The Voidwalker's major problem in this role is a very slow mana recovery rate. His mana pool isn't particularly impressive, either. Either the imp or the felhunter makes a better choice in this role.
The advantage to that is you have sacrifice (kills VW for a bubble) available at any time. Very helpful when getting ganked and if you get into a pinch with mobs.
I don't know about you, but most of the ganking I faced while leveling was from level 70s. The bubble on my voidwalker would've lasted about one swing from the rogues. I found it much better to deter them by keeping a felhunter out in dangerous zones. The casters were more likely to leave me alone, and many rogues vastly overestimate the felhunter's ability to detect stealth.
If you're drain tanking carefully, you'll never get into a pinch with mobs. The rare death will cost you much less time than the steady downtime involved in running with a voidwalker.
