I'm sorry but this is hardly readable. Instead of making obscure calculations with huge room for error, why not use a spreadsheet to calculate what will produce more dps?

Blinkstrike
was
good pre-welfare epics. Nowadays it's not worth the money. The extra attack alone is not enough to compensate for lack of stats/dps.

First thing to point out is that syphon is a 141 item out of BT where talon is a 134 out of SSC... (with some of it's ilvl devoted to armor btw). (100.2 - 96.5 = 3.7 for some of the difference) That is the best main-hand mace in the game that you will see outside of getting a 2050 arena rating, whereas there are better swords out there without pvp'ing. So your damage with the syphon will stay put (all other things being equal) while your damage going swords will go up. That's just ignoring the 5 extra talent points you'll have by not having to go with both spec's.
Second, when looking at DPS, to assume that a rogue is hit-capped and at 35% crit is starting off on the wrong foot.
Lastly, ignoring the stats on an item as you have through all of your calculations is "lol-worthy." The talon will allow you to hit more with both main hand and off hand, allowing more combat potency, and more possibility to proc sword spec, it will allow you to crit more, and it will allow you to hit (ever so slightly) harder.

It doesn't matter where something is gained. The Badge pants are better than t6 pants as a stand-alone item.
My point was that he was comparing two weapons that had different quotas and were on different levels of gear, it'd be like comparing the S4 fist with the S1 sword...
Your last sentence makes no sense so I'm not going to address it.
L2rogue yourself dude... he's assuming that in one instance you only have 5/5 sword specialization, and in the other, that you have 5/5 sword, and 5/5 mace, which is a waste of 5 perfectly good talent points
It isn't hard to get hit capped, nor is 35% crit hard to get. It is fine to assume that as it was applied across the board.

while not the best gear, that's a sunwell rogue with less than hit cap and only 30% crit...(as of 9/9/08 if anyone decides to call me on it later) i'm generally fine with assuming a baseline, but theorycrafting generally requires you to assume a realistic baseline, so that you're not misjudging a value simply because you're assuming your gear is
beyond all hope of actual aquisition
Hitting more with your OH doesn't mean you are critting more, nor does it mean you are "hitting harder". The Syphon still will "hit harder"
While I will admit I could've made myself clearer, I was referring to the AGILITY and ATTACK POWER on the talon influencing the offhand.
