tbh I wish theyd just give engineers the ability to make bows/crossbows as well as guns.
When I 1st started my hunter years back i took engineering cause the fact I could make my own guns, bullets and bombs. Perfect i think! Wouldnt do any harm to just include a bow or two in engineering ;)
But back on topics Wood worker prof would be applied to making staves also to give it more varied use, otherwise it would be just a hunter profesion primarily.
Opens it up to Bow's, Crossbow's, Staffs, Wands(
enchanting i know but there weak
), Charms (perhaps some voodoo involved )
Engraving charms in magical wood etc would be ideal for trinkets, necklaces
BUT
Lore wise - bad for druids - all at one with nature cutting down trees ;) big no no lol

that would be interesting, and could work, but the problem with that is there are a billion trees out there and figuring out which ones become choppable and which ones dont (if you dont think all of them should be able to) will make this iffy if not OP for lvling up. That is to say, either random trees have weak or low branches at diff times (which is wierd) or all of them are choppable and either disappear or (another hmmm) and then u can stay in elwynn forrest and chop a billion trees without having to kill a single enemy.
Mining, herbalism, and skinning in particular all require a certain amount of exploration and killing in order to gather their materials. For chopping to become a reality it would have to follow the same progression, meaning you have to chop a buttload of trees per skill point or the trees in certain areas only give you so many b4 hitting grey. (meaning ur choppin grey trees forever to get enough mats together, or you require a tiny amount of mats)
Its a great thought cuz Warcraft 3 had wood from trees as one of the gathered mats and to be honest its something thats already out there in the world and doesnt require more ground clutter, but just a few holes to patch in b4 it cud go live.
(maybe this cud be part of engineering, a schematic for a tree trimmer and u need only a few chops per bow etc, making engineering better and more useful)

Well..one problem, where would you put the trees? I mean places like Hellfire Ramparts and Netherstorm are basically barren. Herbs are ok since they're very scattered and what not, and ore deposits aren't so out of a place. But one whole tree sticking out of Netherstorm would be weird. The only plausible places for trees as far as I can see would be Terokkar, Nagrand, and BEM, MAYBE Zangar, but those are all mushrooms not trees :P

I'm guessing if they really wanted to do it, they could design some wacky looking trees bushes etc that would fit the environment, not all herbs look the same as some are shrooms etc. Overall this might just be better suited as an improvement to engineering rather than its own gathering profession. If blizz wanted another set of stuff laying around they would have done so with their new profession, my guess. Im still wanting 3 professions, can you imagine your main with alchemy, engineering, and (tailoring,lw, or bs depending on your class)

my two cents: woodworking is a great idea, of course wands, staves, polearms, shields, totems and mabe instead of bags have wood chests with more slots. just put the farming material around like herbs and deposits. It might take away from the game being able to prof every type of gear tho

I also think that that woodworkers could make seige equipment for the world PvP stuff. But, you certainly could argue that an engineer could do that too.
