You get hit for less but longer. Also I'm not saying to only aim for cloth items either. As it stands i have a majority of leather items (tier and badge gear) and only 2 cloth items (boots and belt).
But i still don't consider the effect of being hit upon important enough to warrant limiting yourself to leather. Also when levelling you aren't farming the same spot over and over, you'd be running around from spot to spot for quests and such. Healing and mana regen aren't time consuming at those moments (also take into account that healing ourselves is going to be much cheaper with the new spellpower).
And when really being in a dangerous situations, it's often better to get in caster form and stack up heals on yourself rather than trying to finish everything through the power of your armor and damage. Which goes to show that armor isn't that important.

the main thing with mages is they are now the BEST aoe class, warlock spells aren't being nerfed, mage spells are just getting huge buffs, to make it the way it was meant to be, also mages have better cc then moonkins, and have that sexy mage table that every1 loves :D
then again boomkins are getting a few nice buffs, better aoe abilities, that uber haste with there form, and a few other things

Yeah with the new spells and such for Moonkin we will now rule, but then I was reviewing the resto tree and skills and we got a huge buff with that too *is still hyper from Revive* as well as the tree being able to use ALL healing spells, but at least with these we can now be a viable range dps class as well as now not being overlooked as a healing class :D
