2012: The Year The Internet Ends
This is more arrogant bull^&*!.
In 2000, everyone was saying the world would end.
In 6/6/06, everyone said the world would end.
Many times before those, everyone said the world would end.
Lets face it, this crap is designed to "scare" people, pay it no head though, its lies.
Well, there's usually some truth to any rumour, and that is also the case here. There has been and are ongoing talks of changing the businessmodels of isp's around the world. The internet is filling up and noone seems to be willing to take the bill for upgrading lines and whatnot needed.
Getting paid is a necessity to run a company, and the commercial internet is just that. Commercial. Companies are in it for the money.

I actualy read in the newspaper that ISPs like ATT, AoL, and I forget the other one, Comcast or something, are going to start charging more for bandwidth. This would suck for WoW and other online players because you will have higher bills the more you are on the computer. Think how phone bills are, you have say 900 minutes, if you go over that you pay ridiculous amounts of money. The same would be for internet, you pay for say 10gb of download per month, you go over that and you are billed crazy amounts of money.

his/her commnet is a knee jerk reaction to the mayian concept of time keeping.
and from his/her standpoint seems he/she doesn't like mythology. or likes to take mis-interpretations seriously.

not that odd, alot of satelite companies already limit the amount you can download per 24hrs. mine does :( so patch days means 24 hrs with no net due to going over the limit.
hehe got a funny kaptcha (or w/e its called) 6met6 long lost twins?

... Where I live you can pay 20$ per month and you have unlimited long distance calls.
I pay X per month for my internet and I have unlimited access to it too.

World ends, 2012, 21, 12.
Enter that on youtube, study the mayans, then you'll believe, at least I do :S.
It doesn't really get to me though, if the world ends we all do why would I want to live alone?
Except the mayan thing isn't about end-of-world fire'n'brimestone holy be ye lord etc.
It's more about a shoft of paradigm. A gear change in conciousness.
And from some of the stuff i have seen/read, it does have a correlation in astronomy/astrophysics. It seems there is stuff going to float through our solar system that looks like it will change the way things normally operate.
But back on topic, yes tiered internet has many sides to it. But like the enron/california scenario, can you be sure the people running the companies involved won't just spend it all on "dirt bike holidays'.
And how will this affect the dis-enfranchised from utilising information resources?
And how much advertising will you be subjected too.
If there are any side effects to this 'tiered netowrking' excluding people from the world wide connectivity(we now enjoy), will we see isolated wireless network communites become more abundant.
Will those communities become inter-connected again?
There is one such wireless nework covering the entire adelaide CDB, spanning probably 160kms from north to south and 60-80 from the mountains to the beach.
