The Scarlets are among the most fascinating villains in the game,Eh...not to me; it's the standard racist group who hates everyone else, so go kill them. Voss was meh, the revamps were meh because it's stuff we saw before. I'd rather they were just gone at this point; there isn't a lot of reason to keep them around, since the lands they used to be in before are claimed/cleansed.

Just for clarity's sake, Adam ... you've made that abundantly clear. Since you were the first reply on the thread with your wordy "No".
We understand that you don't like them and don't want them back.

Same could be said of the Defias after they were annihilated during vanilla. They were still brought back during cataclysm, and you can't deny it was an interesting story.
The Scarlets are among the most fascinating villains in the game, and there's a lot of potentially interesting stories and scenarios we could see from their return. Imagine Whitemane, now a Death Knight, having to lead a squad of the ebon blade against her former comrades in arms.
This is a
really
,
really
good point.
Everyone keeps saying "But, there's no leaders left".
Well, there weren't leaders left of the Defias before Vanessa came back in an incredible storyline in Westfall!
There's certainly a lot of cool things that can still be done with the SC (even without getting into the racism stuff some people are stuck on.)
They even entirely changed the Defias with the way that the Deadmines changed.
I'd
love
to see the SC changed into something new and challenging to invigorate new interest in their bad-guy story!

Let this thread live a bit longer. It would be foolish to create a new one anyway...
I'm a total stranger to WoW an to Warcraft in general, but I got hooked on the lore of Scarlet Crusade, given my background being fond of Warhammer and anything else with the words "inquisition" and "crusade". So while I'm not going to play WoW (especially now, since there's no scarlets), I want to ask someone what can I read to learn more. I saw some mangas being mantioned in the thread, but can someone give the specific names?
I'd like to point out here that the Scarlet Crusade has had elven heroes, and dwarven heroes. ... their statues are literally on display inside the Scarlet Monastery. They're named heroes.
So, all of this "KKK" "neo-Nazi" stuff isn't accurate.
Let me add my two cents to this: I find people are almost always overreacting to this racial stuff, quick to call everyone "nazi". I mean, let me draw parallels with my favourite Warhammer 40K lore: it is the A-class canon that Imperium has some secret alliances with space elves, even though Imperium has no statues of elven heroes. And it has been mentioned that some of the scarlets left the Crusade in favour for the Argent Dawn, right?
The point is: the bigger organisation is, the more it likely it will have radically opposed opinions on some points even within itself. Saying, if the Scarlet Crusade would not be defeated, but thrive and conquer, anything could've happened. It is even possible that Balnazaar could've fallen to some inner coup or some kind of civil war, which could have lead to anything, starting from the Crusade returning to its old ways.
The plus of the WoW lore: it has progress, while WH40K stood on one place for decades and only makes slow movements at this point. If WH40K moved forward as quick as Warcraft, the Imperium would have probably been already destroyed and rebuilt several times. Scarlet crusade had members of different races, than it got destroyed and changed to Scarlet Onslaught, etc... If the scarlets are tp return once again, nothing says that they will be the same as before.
So the other point is: for the thread about something to return, there's probably way too much talk about the past, and not enough about possibilities. Even some crazy ones. Even just hooking with the idea of someone finding the tomes of Scarlet teachings, who says it should be human? This time Scarlets may turn to be elven-only or something... whatever.
You do recall the manga where they killed the blood elf because inhuman?
Knowing Warcraft, could it be because said elves are members of the Horde?

The Scarlets are the Nazi/KKK/Skinheads of WoW because well...that's what they are; they are all about racial purity, they are all about killing everyone else who isn't human, and they are bigots. Any of the 'good' ones left a long time ago, leaving only the 'evil' ones behind.
The manga story in question also had them murdering Forsaken as well. And the Elves hadn't officially joined the Horde yet, so there is that.

… There … fixed that for you.
The manga story in question also had them murdering Forsaken as well.Right. Because the forsaken are undead.

Well, welcome to the forums, Ross … and, thanks for joining the conversation! You make some interesting points!
As far as stuff to read, you might enjoy reading the "Ashbringer" 4-book series. They're obviously out of print, but, you can likely find them on eBay or elsewhere for fairly inexpensive. You can find them
here
on Comicvine for information on which of the most popular characters from lore and whatnot are included!

There's a *big* question on some people's minds …
If the purpose of the Scarlet Crusade is that they are committed to eradicating the undead hordes that destroyed the Kingdom of Lordaeron … now that the Ruins of Lordaeron are no longer in the hands of the Horde, is it possible that if the Alliance is able to disperse the plague that Sylvannas pumped out there, the Scarlet Crusade might return in a small group and want to also be part of the city again? Or even a larger part, if people saw they weren't demon-possessed and crazy?
It seems more likely to me now, after the recent Siege of Lordaeron, that the people of the Alliance might loathe and hate the Forsaken all the more now, and be much more likely to at least cooperate with the Scarlet Crusade's goal of wanting to destroy all undead.

No, the captain makes a point about the death that it was due to the fact that it was a elf. And speaks about human supremacy.
When she becomes undead she begins to understand the errors of the crusade. Well, the death of her niece started it.
When she is undead and the inkeeper of brill, she talks to captive scarlets and tries to talk them out of their hateful mindset. And as the one she talks to in the manga doesn't care about what she says.
It ends with "would you like some pumpkin." referring to the quests about feeding the captive plauged food.

The Scarlet Palisade is a Scarlet Crusade camp located just west of the Solliden Farmstead in Tirisfal Glades
They still have a base of Operations.

I would love to see The Scarlet Crusade make an appearance, playing Classic really makes me miss some of those storylines and the directions they could go with it.
