So, let's be on topic instead of picking holes in the spelling, punctuation, and wording in a dozen earlier threads...
I like the fact that some professions only give very limited benefits, and most of those BOP. If you couldn't get BOP items via tailoring, who would bother to take it?
Equally, I don't have a problem with some professions not giving us tons of BOE gear. I don't really want someone to hit 70 and with no talent or effort be able to access top end gear. At least with BOP items, you have to level a profession (and certainly pre-2.4, find certain BOP items by doing SSC/TK to access some of the better things).
I also don't think that there is any profession that's useless. Let's have a quick look at this:
Tailoring:
Primal Mooncloth/Frozen Shadoweave sets - not replaced until tier 5++
Patterns in SSC/TK/MH/BT/Sunwell - some of the best gear around
Leg enchants/belt crafting - a good source of income. I sold 8 or 9 belts after 2.4 at 50 gold per craft, and this was all bonus cash as the pattern had dropped for me to use.
Blacksmithing:
You can craft weapons that are better than any SSC/TK drops, giving you an advantage when starting MH/BT.
Bulwark of the Ancient Kings - probably won't be replaced until tier 6, for dps warriors.
Resistance gear - the only way to access nature, frost, and shadow resistance plate. ALL of these are BOE.
Patterns in SSC/TK/MH/BT/Sunwell - some of the best gear around
Without going through each of them in turn, there's some very fine gear in leatherworking and engineering too.
If you'd like to have more crafted stuff to sell, and make more money, then I suggest you go for enchanting, alchemy, or jewelcrafting. Each of these has very little that's BOP, with a few extra bonuses (like the better gems, or the top end JC neck).
So I think the option's there - some give you great gear and a small amount of money; and some give you a lot of money and very little good gear. However, they're all designed to be a boost to pve/pvp, not instead of.
You still have to put the effort into playing the game, then. It's just these help a bit. That's how it should be.

@ Wowgeek... konwiam?
serves u right mister! u went to such an extent in mending that poor guys post that u couldn't see the wood from the trees!
I am absolutely sure the original poster wanted to let know all the above 30 y.o. posters that he himself is 38 "
know I am
38"
now to get to the point of the thread. I am blacksmith/tailor and not once in my entire game experience assumed that an item I crafted would last me more than 3-4 runs of lvl 70 instances. better gear always drops. this is almost a given, I don't see why do we need to discuss it? profesions are for fun imo...
again @ Wowgeek: why did feel the need to mend that post anyway? do u think it's your responsability? or you just couldn't stand it watching people making fun of an 38 y.o. that spelled like he was drunk/high/dumb? assuming he is 38... something in what he said led me to think that he might be way younger than that.

first of all i would like to thank to wowhead team for this side i have started to read this side before TBC came out in wowheads very first times but have never sent a mail becuase of jobb and family life so i would like to share some ideas with all comunity very first time i have played all kind of online games but not very hard core sometimes hard core period sometimes casual but wow is a great 1 i started online with line age (EQ and so on) u who r over 30 konwiam 38 :P. actually there r too many things to explain about that game but will complain about professions that are a big fail in wow.this is my personal opinion so i dont expect that all readers will be on my side kk so let look at what blizzard failed with many creating professions like tailoring, blacksmithing,JK and others have limited and useless recepies which cant even be close to 5 man instance qualities except some that cost too much and u can get all by pvp,u cant gain money by some professions like eng, tailoring,bs (of course some will say that i sell that i sold that so on :P ) in general crafting profs ruselesscompare whgathering 1s like mining and herbalism.(for exempel who will pay 1,5k for khorium champion or even another craftable epic weapons that cost uber much money a person who play pvp or raid sometimes can get much better gear then this 1s ( dont wanna talk about pve and pvp gear thingy btw),this wrong logic chain about professions make the whole crafting concept a bit crapy aye there r many items that sell nice but gaining money is not the only aim in professions, for exempel u can create guns but not bows or shields and actually too many miss and fail about it,dont wanna expalin anymore because can take tooooo ling time and many pages (btw JK and inscriptions a nice copy from i think u know which games :P so thx for reading and giving me a small part in your big community, hope to write more later see u all and thx
That just hurt my brain to read. Type slower so you aren't prone to making mistakes or spelling stuff wrong. Here is some tips: don't create run-on sentences like this sentence is probably a good run-on sentence that is. Next, put a space in between your commas, please! Also, <PERIODS> <.><.><.> <USE THEM>
Back to the topic, if no one had blacksmithing or leatherworking, if you had skinning or mining, no one would buy the ores! Plus, you are wrong that no proffessions had good stuff; there are many good BoE and BoP recipes for both that you can't get from pvp and would take awhile to get from pve. Some examples are spellstrike set, belt of blasting, bracers of the green fortress, spellfire set and more. Just remember that if everyone had gathering, you would be butt poor. So maybe think before you say: we shud al b gathrin profz k den we mek $ rite gu sy

@Wowgeek
Whoa, way to make a big f'ing hoo harr out of my opinion.
You wanna know what I really think about professions in WoW, boiled down to a few sentences that will probably be understandable to you?
They're fine. Or, they would've been. Should've been. But they were ruined, by their very inventors. Being able to acquire better gear through botting AV than the gear you would be able to pay others to make you, kind of ruined the concept of trading profession-made items. But, that doesn't mean they're useless, for two reasons (the way I see it - bear in mind that's my opinion, it might offend you - deal with it): It offers people who despise PvP an alternative to gearing up. If you're a casual player, say, a Fury warrior and want some kick ass offhand and don't feel like spending time in battlegrounds, go and have a
Fel Edged Battleaxe
crafted. Yes, it's gonna either cost you some gold or gonna take some hours to grind the mats for, but seriously - you don't get anything for "free" in World of Grindcraft.
Okay, so the other reason you ask? High end gear for those who actually care to level professions, even only for those items. Like the trinket I mentioned, it's easily the best available for a PvP rogue - isn't that enough to make it worthwile? Or raiders who level Leatherworking, even if they're mages, just so they can get that damage boost in order to down Brutallus, or whatever their guild is struggling with.
Oh, and if I misunderstood OP, you can't really blame me. Although I didn't.
And on a final note, I don't give a rat's arse about your uncle. I'm jewish, go and hate me if other "races" (as in racism) bother you, like you seem to think it bothers other people. I don't believe in racism, and, seriously yes - the chinese is a stereotype. Nothing offensive in that. And it's also something to do with the fact that we did have quite a population of chinese on our server. Some were prone to begging, some weren't. It's a joke, and if it actually boils your vietnamese blood that much, there's a big problem of yours. It could be bad for you to take offense on such things, so don't be too pricky - especially not on teh intarwebz.

Oh, and I absolutely agree with everything Maradin has to say, more or less.

in case u are refering to "OP is a term that I don't see fit for him, because if anything he is underpowered at english", I want u to know I was merely expressing a thought of mine, not trying to pick on anybody

I don't see any reason for me to put any effort whatsoever into understanding something the poster so obviously put no effort whatsoever into making understandable.

Yet you put that effort into typing that? Why?

Well, this may come as a shock to you, but for people to change, they usually need some kind of feedback to kick them off into changing. Since without the feedback they'll just go about their ways and think they've done just fine.
Now, for the poster of this thread - he may have valid points that would be readworthy. I'll just never know, and that may be a loss for me. So I'd rather he'd know that I don't know what the hell he's talking about, so that next time, next time he may try to do it differently and his post may be beneficial for the community as a whole.
Was that reason good enough?
Edit: Besides, me writing both these posts now, including this edit, most likely took me far less time than trying to decipher the opening post.

No. You've acheived nothing with that post.

And you know this how exactly? Are you the opening poster in a different suit? I actually wouldn't be that surprised, only saddened that such obvious trolls would exist, since you clearly know how to word yourself in an understandable manner. I don't believe you are though. So I'm still baffled.
No matter, due to your overwhelming argument of why we shouldn't honor the opening poster with our silly remarks, I will respond to this thread no further.

In WoW, you can get all the gear you need from killing monsters. Crafted gear is weaker then non-crafted.
I know what you mean here.
Here is a question I have had for a while : Where and/or who are the crafters of the gear found on the monsters.
:)
I mean, something interesting : A monster kills you, so next time you see it...holy/what the f*** he's wearing my chest piece.

I was going to say "wow what a long runnon sentence!" But then I noticed that the sentence never even ended. Seriously, you need to either learn to write better or at least use spell check.
